Description

Emergency chat can be used in any situation where speech is impossible but communication is still necessary.
The splash screen has a base text that explains to the person you gave your phone to that you can't use speech and want to use this app to communicate. The default text is aimed at people experiencing an autistic meltdown, where their speech centres stay non-functional for a while even after they've recovered.
Both the title and text can be adjusted in the settings screen to be whatever you want the person you give your phone to know.
You can then continue to the next screen which has a simple chat client.

Good app, does need a speech option though

Nellow123 on

I really like this app! Though i do think it needs to be like iMessage in the fact that it should be different colors that stay the same based on who’s typing. Also I do age with the person who says the app needs a speech option because what if you are communicating with someone who can’t see well? It might benefit both the people are communicating because the person who’s nonverbal can let people know by having the app speak for them, and other people can listen to it.

Super helpful

I got the app about a month ago and had to use it for the first time today- It’s always frustrating to not be able to communicate properly in times of high anxiety but this helped me get what I needed across without having to play 20 questions with my family, which often just causes MORE stress. I would love it if there was a “voice box” or “sound board” with common phrases or a text to speech option because I often don’t feel comfortable handing my phone to other people. Those options would be super nice, though I know text to speech is hard to fully set up, especially if you want to give voice options.

Love this App, and I have a Suggestion

This app is sooo helpful! I recommend that yall add a more pastel color for the chat though so it can be more soothing for a meltdown 😊

Very Handy

Just found this app, it’s very cool that it has a customizable message for your own situation! I do think it would be helpful if there can be an option for the app to text/alert certain individuals in your contacts, with a premade, customizable message to inform them that a situation is happening. I suffer from extremely intense anxiety attacks, where it can be difficult to even navigate my phone, let alone texting a loved one that I need help. This could be useful in cases of bad allergic reactions, or asthma too :0

Thank you!

I just found this app and it makes me soooo happy! I am autistic and have really bad anxiety that makes me really depressed I was told it was something like situational anxiety and I have situational depression great right well when I have panic attacks or as I call them shut downs I first try to hide that my eyes are watering up like I’m gonna cry then I cry put my head down and become non verbal and don’t move I try and talk but my body doesn’t let me so it’s hard when it happens at school my girlfriend and friends get me through it though but it takes a long time about 30 minutes to a hour usually and one of my teachers thinks I’m sleeping when it happens and starts to try and shake me which makes it worse and I have explained to her what happens so it prevents me from doing my work which is not good and I think this app will help improve my communication when it happens and help me through it thank you for making a app that will help be thorough it thank you again!

Life Saver

disconnectedfromreality on

I almost cried when I first discovered this app existed. I’m 19 and started having really bad panic attacks at 12, which can sometimes manifest in slight or full on dissociation where I can’t speak or sometimes even move. For those times I can still move, or when I’m getting out of full on dissociation and can begin to move again, this would be a life saver. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve scared people with my attacks, or they’ve made them worse by touching me/getting angry/etc. I really am thankful for the maker of this app and I hope they know how many lives they are saving and improving. ❤️

Needs a speech option

lilbangladesh on

This is a great app that really increases safety for those of us who have occasional aphasia, whether due to autistic shutdowns, stroke, migraines or whatever reason. I don’t lose speech often, but having this on my phone does make me feel safer. However, what if the person you’re trying to communicate with is illiterate? One time I used my iPad (before I ever heard of this app) to communicate when I had utterly lost my voice due to laryngitis, but the person I was trying to order fried chicken from couldn’t read. I mean, this is comic because no one dies for lack of chicken, but a speech option where your device speaks for you could really help.

Perfect!

Not only am I autistic, but I also have frequent panic attacks and flashbacks after being a little traumatized. Since I am nonverbal when these ‘episodes’ occur, I find this app perfect. It is easy to use, self explanatory, and useful. I don’t have a single complaint. This is an awesome app, and I highly recommend it for anyone who has nonverbal ‘episodes’. Thanks!

OMGS THANKYOU

I literally just had a really bad shutdown last night because of my anxiety and couldn't talk for hours. A lot of my friends don't sign (I do) and that made it really hard to communicate with them - it's been an issue in my life for a really long time and I'm so freaking glad I found this app! It's literally what I've been needing and I love that the message screen is customizable so that I can explain what's happening to me specifically. I wish I'd had this last night! THANKYOU.

Panic Disorders

Regan_is_cool on

I have a panic disorder which means I get panic attacks a lot. Usually I can't hear clearly or speak in a panic attack but this app helps me communicate with people around me to get me in a place where I can recover. I would definitely recommend this to others with panic disorders.
