Emma - Budget Planner Tracker

You cannot use this app without linking your bank account , this is a horrible idea that we have to trust an app from someone we know nothing about about, how do we know employees of Emma don’t look at our details at least the bank already has access to

My partner swears by this app so I'm on my 3rd attempt with it and have found myself so infuriated that I wanted to chuck my phone in the river at times. So far it has changed my default setting from being British to American for no reason causing me to have to delete my entire account and start over. It also charged me twice in one month and frequently when I try to add a new account it just says unable to add account even though it's for a major institution like Chase or HSBC. When it *does* finally let you add an account - the details are wrong even after syncing. Finally if you are a combined finance household - switching spaces is like pulling teeth.

Tricked to opt in to their yearly membership. Total waste of money!

This used to be amazing, especially when I could combine all different accounts to really track my spending, I did purchase the monthly one, but am just disappointed with it.

Helped me get a real handle on my budget all in one place. Subscription tracker in particular is very useful and helped me get rid of some subscriptions I forgot I even had. As someone with a bad habit of signing up for things and then hardly ever using them or forgetting about them, this has saved me so much money so it is very much appreciated. The notification feature is also great and gives me a clear snapshot of what's ahead in terms of bills when I need it. This makes it so much easier for me to plan and stay in check. In terms of the design of the app, can't have any complaints really. Everything is clear and easy to find for me so very well layed-out. Genuinely so happy I gave this app a go as its gave me a much clearer perspective on all of my finances. Would have to say I will probably be recommending it to others too. Give it a go if you're looking to keep on top of your costs.

I don’t mind a paid app if it’s value for money. This app is crazy expensive. Banks like Monzo and Starling offer what this app has for free.

I was looking for a budgeting app so I don’t have to faff about with the excel spreadsheets. I initially signed up with a free app, but choose the first paid layer for rent reporting. Then I attempted to organise my payments and lorrrrrd help me I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t assign new categories - you have to pay extra, couldn’t rename transactions - you have to pay extra. Very pushy with adverts ‘You can save money if you change you Internet provider’, etc. or ‘Invest in this… invest in that’. No, thanks. I just want to manage my money and if this means that I have to do it on excel, I’ll do it on excel. I’m not paying £9.99 a month just so I can save couple of hours a month. Sorry not sorry. Your ‘additional’ perks are more distracting than worth my time.

The purpose is to save some money but paying a subscription 120£ per year, all my profit from my savings are spent for it - no sens !

Not sure about this app. Joined, then subsequently deleted it after joining the free trial. There’s no way to cancel the subscription once you’ve started it. I’ve also been signed up to hundreds of newsletters and sites across the world since joining Emma finance. It could be a coincidence but mentioning it just in case.

When I tried to delete my account it took me through a very long winded path to try delete it being like “are you sure you want to delete your account?”. It asked this so many times and the app is designed to try and squeeze as much money out of you as possible
