ErgData from Concept2 is your personal training partner. Set up workouts from your phone or tablet, view customized stats and information during workouts, track your progress, sync with the Concept2 Online Logbook, take part in the Workout of the Day and much more. 

Features
-Set up workouts from your phone, making it simple to create even the most complex of interval workouts. You can choose to store workouts as favorites or rerow past efforts straight from ErgData.
-Set the Concept2 Workout of the Day on the monitor with a single tap.
-Compatible with the Apple Watch. Watch users can now see real-time heart rate data on the screen during the workout and in analysis afterwards.
-Choose from different workout display options, including small, medium and large data screens, a pace graph screen, an interval and split table or a pace boat. Easily swipe between screens during your workout. Customize the data shown to suit you.
-Syncs with the Concept2 Online Logbook, making it easy for you to take part in our many challenges. From the Online Logbook, your workouts can get sent to platforms such as Strava, Garmin Connect or Training Peaks.
-Detailed post-workout analysis helps you know exactly what happened during your workout. See all your interval and split data, as well as pace and rate graphs, plus how long you spent in each heart rate zone.
-Optional voice guidance to send audible workout data and results.

Once a quarter it seems to completely stop tracking workouts. Additionally the PM5 is terrible, it will randomly disconnect and need to be power cycled to reconnect. Overall it usually works OK but the random disconnect, and app crashes, with no way to update it to apple health is complete garbage. They need to update both hardware and software, but won’t. Paying a premium for ERG is a joke. Get a peloton.

ErgData seems incapable of properly communicating with my Apple Watch. Every morning I complete a two mile row, and the app seems to think my heart rate stays static nearly the entire time. Sometimes it’ll track it nearly 100%, and other times, like this morning, it changed exactly one time. And there’s no way that reading was correct because there’s no way my heart rate was 109 halfway through a row while maintaining ~200W per stroke. It’s extremely annoying.

### ***** "Outstanding Reliability and Metrics"
With more than a month of use, it is clear that this is a well made, reliable app. Metrics and presentation are on par with paid apps including Strava and Garmin. 

The apps focus on rowing makes it a better solution than any other app I have seen.  

It aggregates and presents data better than other apps. I can’t help but wonder if the poor ratings people give are from those trying to push you to a paid app. Ignore them this is a best option. 

It is not an eye candy app so if that is the determining factor in your app selection then you are losing out on an app that can actually do what you need to get done. If you want a bulletproof app deeply integrated with the C2 world then this is the one to choose.

Update in August 2025. 

Same unreliable Apple Watch heart rate readings. 

A really useful and great partner app for the rower. But the Apple watch heart component is totally unreliable. Developer says they are working on a fix but still waiting.

### ****- "Crashed, no save"
Crashed without saving workout. That was a first after a couple years' use but still disappointing to lose a good workout. Not sure if the problem is with this app or Apple Watch, but HR needs to poll more frequently. Often gets stuck on same HR for minutes at a time regardless of change in effort. Another issue is that the ErgData watch app will sometimes start recording another Erg workout right after finishing a real workout. I've had hours long phantom workouts show up in Apple fitness.

This app, that’s what I want. Simple to use, automatically uploads workouts to my online log, and gives me all the data I really need in one easy to read format.

Every 2 to 3 days the app fails to upload the workout to concept2 logbook. And then I have to connect the pm5 with usb to a computer to upload the workout the old way
