## Expedition White Shark Description
Welcome to Expedition White Shark, the world’s first app designed to track adult white sharks in real time! To make this possible, scientists at the Marine Conservation Science Institute (MCSI) attached custom satellite tags to the dorsal fin of adult Great White Sharks, allowing us to follow their movements from Satellites orbiting the earth. Expedition White Shark allows you to receive near real time Great White Shark tracking data at the same time as the research scientists. Positions for the tagged sharks can only be calculated when a shark is at the surface with its dorsal fin out of the water for several minutes; since sharks are not always finning we receive intermittent position data from our sharks, but each signal beamed to us form space adds to our growing knowledge of the life history of this species. Since you are getting our data in near real time you will notice that the satellites sometimes make mistakes, placing the shark far from its actual location; we correct these errors later, when we analyze the data. The MCSI satellite tagging of Great White Sharks has led to many important new findings regarding white shark biology, and each new day brings promise of a new discovery that you can make with us!

Use the shark filter to select a specific shark or see the last position for all sharks of a specific species, or select current to see shark positions within the last 30 days. If current is selected the last position for a shark that appears on the map as a dorsal fin , while sharks with historical location data on today’s date in previous years are marked with dot. This allows users to look for patterns of where sharks may be found during that time of year.

## Expedition White Shark Reviews in United States

### *---- "Lame"
Don’t waste your money. They list 4 sharks with the exact same picture. Con artistry
-- Nickname shark, 2026-08-02

### *---- "Not worth it"
This app costs money and it’s not worth it. After buying abd downloading it, I found that the satellite pings show the sharks to be on land. The only “land sharks” I know of were on SNL! It’s clearly not accurate. I recommend OCEARCH app. It’s free and it’s quite accurate. Not only is their app good, but I’m sold on their work. I plan to donate to them soon!
-- Thehoneymooner, 2022-12-13

### ****- "I like it- may have saved a few people"
1) I surf in waters where big sharks hunt
1.) my friend’s kids were in the water at El Capitan when they got out because they saw a fin. The dad told them to get back out there because he was sore it was a dolphin. He had the app and looked just for fun and sure enough Poe Girl the 17 ft shark had pinged in the bay. Everyone got out of the water. A couple weeks later a bit north a guy was killed by a shark. And the same one was in that area
2) cool little animations of where each tagged shark has traveled and each point it registers has its time of year 3) seeing the animation was pretty cool as the shark I was most concerned about makes an incredible journey… but for now has parked it’s 17 ft self near one of my favorite spots
3) would be nice to have all the sharks but that’s not gonna happen. This is Pacific Ocean specific
-- cjdjrvtbe, 2022-01-02

### *---- "8 sharks in the Northern Pacific?"
Could you also include the record number of sharks tagged in 2020 off the California coast specifically Santa Barbara and San Diego?
That would make the price of the app worthwhile and make the app extremely useful.
-- OpenWater Swimmer, 2021-02-07

### ***-- "Fun but glitches"
My son and I loved this app. We found favorite sharks and would love tracking where they were. The newest update has caused the images and videos to cease to be viewable which we are so sad about. If the kinks could work out it’s really an interesting app.
-- BritBeye, 2021-01-14

### **--- "Disappointed"
I got this so for my son who loves sharks! We wanted to see that they travel the world but the only sharks that are on this app are on the coast of California....
-- jet2281, 2020-07-16

### *---- "App doesn’t work- serves down?"
I’ve had this app for a couple days & haven’t been able to access any information. I get an error message- “No connection. Unable to refresh the sharks from the sever”.
-- Sam Priz, 2020-06-15

### *---- "No Atlantic info"
There is nothing reported on the Atlantic side. Definitely not worth spending money on.
-- OH food hound, 2019-08-19

### *---- "No east coast coverage"
Bought this to track sharks in my area near Massachusetts but there is no coverage on the east coast
-- mechasheba, 2019-08-03

### *---- "Awful"
Do not download. The images of shark fins are from 2016. This is definitely not in real time. It also looks like it is only showing sharks on the west coast in 2016. I bought this app to track sharks while I was on vacation. Waste of money, I wish they would refund me.
