Expensify - Travel & Expense

This stupid app has been double charging me for a year under two different names. Be aware of this. Also had me paying. For some group plan when I literally just use it for myself. I literally don’t get it. Also the customer service is wonky.

DO NOT use this app if you use Xero. They have a landing page that talks all about how it integrates with Xero. It’s all LIES. They say that an image of your receipt will be sent to Xero. Nope. They say that it synchs with Xero. Also not true. To get your information into Xero, you have to create a report. This could include hundreds of receipts. The REPORT is what gets synched to Xero. ALL of your receipts show up as a single bill with multiple line items. You then have to MANUALLY match them to payments. If you pay for things from multiple accounts, this quickly becomes a nightmare. Oh, and it’s on you to manually add photos. It’s hard to believe that something could work this badly. Customer support is essentially nonexistent, so I’ve been left trying to navigate this on my own. Literally choose any other company. Please.

First time using it for my business On paid premium Buggy and crashed multiple times

I have just started using this app. I am still new to it so I am still figuring out how to use it. I love that the concierge are there to assist you if you are having any difficulties with the app. They are very efficient in replying back to you! I was very very impressed with that as a lot of apps do not have this feature. I personally find this app isn’t that quick and easy to learn so for that I am giving the app 4 starts but like I said I am new with this app and hopefully with the concierge’s support I will be able to learn how to use the app effectively.

Absolutely zero customer service

If its just a scanner app microsoft lens is way more superior. It’s significantly faster to process and goes straight to pdf. This smartlens is super slow only to tell me the amount and vendor which literally takes me 5 more seconds to enter manually. I struggle with retail taxes and i would like an app that scans and automatically calculate or recognizes retail sales taxes. Overall i dont find this app to be useful.

Their integration with smaller banks is impossible. I tried connecting our bank account and sunk in about 30 hours with no success. Then we stopped using it and I forgot about it for a while and then realized we weren’t using it and elected to “close my account”. What this did was essentially nothing because I was charged two subsequent months for “activity” as it was not closed but changed to a pay as you go service. I’m still not clear on what “activity it was as I logged in today since I was billed again. When I asked to actually close my account and for a refund for the two months that I had not used it, they said I couldn’t get a refund as there was activity in those two months. Now to close it, I need to pay another month fee for it to happen. Also, they don’t have people to talk to. Do yourself a favor, find a company that a service department that you can speak with when you need help, and one that doesn’t connive you I to additional fees after you “close” you account.

- “concierge” chat bot is automated with limited actual support functionality - preset exchange rate doesn’t allow you to use the exchange rate applied by bank or credit card on a foreign transaction - inability to select multiple expenses at once, or “split” an expense by a prescribed ratio… just cumbersome - “submitted” expense report - and emails didn’t send, now marked as closed…

I used Expensify years ago and loved it. In the early days it had few features but they worked well. I have come back to needing an expense tracker and defaulted to Expensify. Sadly it’s now garbage. I could go on for pages but some key issues that are horrific: expense categories get reset constantly, web browser is totally different than mobile app in extreme ways, new Expensify is even worse being focused on just chat and message versus actual expenses, the mobile app has more functions than browser so I am spending way to much time typing on iPhone when I could be faster on laptop but browser doesn’t allow many functions. Highly not recommended. They should be flushed in the toilet.
