False color imaging — used by cinematographers on set worldwide — reveals exactly where your highlights clip and shadows crush before it's too late. Use this tool to import images from Movies, TV Shows, and more to reveal how professional cinematographers exposed their final graded images. SHOOT IN APPLE LOG Capture with the in-app camera in Apple Log and read exposure the way you would on a pro monitor. Zone and False Color overlays follow the exact Apple Log curve, so every zone lines up with true scene stops — the full dynamic range of your sensor, measured in real light. REAL-TIME FALSE COLOR CAMERA See your scene through a live false color overlay as you shoot. Instantly identify overexposed highlights, underexposed shadows, and perfectly exposed midtones — the same tools used on professional film sets, now in your pocket. TAP TO METER Tap anywhere in the frame for an instant zone readout and a recommended f-stop. Simulate any lens aperture with the IRIS control and get a recommendation to place your subject at 18% middle gray — before you roll. ZONE SYSTEM ANALYSIS Exposure Check maps your image into distinct one-stop tonal zones so you can evaluate exposure with precision and intent. MANUAL CAMERA CONTROLS Take full control with manual ISO, shutter angle, white balance, frame rate, and lens selection — plus pinch-to-zoom lens switching and a live, draggable histogram. ANALYZE ANY PHOTO Import photos from your library and run Zone or False Color analysis instantly. The stacked compare view shows your original and analyzed image together so you can see exactly what the exposure is doing. ORGANIZE WITH PROJECTS Create projects to keep your shots organized. Import directly from your photo library, move and copy images between projects, and review your work in a clean full-screen viewer with smooth swipe navigation. I use this in pre-pro with the DP when we're going through reference stills — EL Zone makes it really easy to point at a shadow or a highlight and get aligned on what we're actually chasing. Saves a lot of back-and-forth on the day. Can't wait for EL Zone running on a live Apple Log signal in the camera mode — that's going to be a game changer for on-set work. For now it's already earned a spot in my prep workflow. -- Raynor Lighting, 2026-05-28 ### ***** "Great tool for DPs and Gaffers" Working gaffer here. Every time i wanted to look at false color for a movie i had to use a plug in i got from davinci which is cool but then you can’t easily save or reference it later. Love that i can organize it all in app and move the saves around. Will be using a bunch on my next film. -- DAMEY121, 2026-05-10 ### ***** "Great tool on set!" Been beta testing this for a while now and have used it across a handful of different sets. Really changed how I communicate with my crew on set — I can pull up a false color reference and have an actual conversation about where I want the exposure to land so we’re all on the same page compared to our reference image exposures. -- JuanB001300, 2026-04-15 [View all Exposure Check reviews and detailed analytics on AppTail](https://app.apptail.io/signup?utm_campaign=ai-crawl&utm_content=reviews) ## Exposure Check Discovered Keywords - false checker - exposure check ## Exposure Check Available In - [United States](https://apptail.io/app/exposure-check-KGpz/united-states) - [Canada](https://apptail.io/app/exposure-check-KGpz/canada) - [Nigeria](https://apptail.io/app/exposure-check-KGpz/nigeria) - [Netherlands](https://apptail.io/app/exposure-check-KGpz/netherlands) --- ## About AppTail [AppTail](https://apptail.io) is a mobile app intelligence platform providing app analytics, ASO (App Store Optimization) tools, keyword tracking, competitor analysis, revenue estimates, and review monitoring for iOS App Store apps.
