I’m an American that finds sports distasteful. Always been more into extreme sports that showcase humans skills/talents/ intellect an F1 has provided me with all that in more. Didn’t really start getting into it till they finally came back to Vegas and now I’m hooked. This app helped me learn a bit more about the history of Formula Racing and I will be on this app everyday gearing up for the next season to start in 3 months time. Thank You Formula Team for helping me find my place outside of skateboarding!
There are so many examples of streaming apps that are world class. This is the counter example. To start, you are constantly prompted to log in - especially on the Apple TV app. There horrible continuity if you start on one device and want to pick up where you left off on the other. I don’t know how many times this season I was forced back to the start of the race and had to figure out where I was. The streaming is unreliable and has frequent laggy periods with super low resolution. And, for some reason, the app doesn’t let you quickly jump back in to where you left off - especially if you were behind by a race or two…you have to navigate through the season to find the race, then click in to find it. I wish there was a better way.
I purchased this before the 2024 season and up until the end of the European races, I was extremely happy. Between the European races and Austin, there was a three week break and when I went to get back on my F1 TV app, I was still logged in, however it was making me pay to watch everything. I’ve tried their chat support, I’ve actually talked to somebody on the phone, and I tried to send an email from their site which wouldn’t send because every time I did it, it said there was a problem. I have the proof of my payment through my credit card company, and I have the verification email showing that I paid for this product. However, since Austin, I have not been able to access one single race, practice session, or pre-or post race show. I now have no resort but to go to my bank and try to protest the charge and I don’t think I’ll be purchasing their service again.
I watch every race weekend including weekend warmups, practice sessions, qualifying, the race, and pre and post shows. I think F1 is doing a great job with all of these as far as commentary and the shows, but it’s been over 3 years of subscribing to this service and it still is one of the most outdated and laggy services I have used. The F1 tv app is the biggest offender, but is included in the subscription so still is relevant for this review. I can not properly screen share to monitors or tvs most of the time. Even when using an HDMI cord there has been times were the video just will not load on the other monitor or tv. This is so annoying. In addition the controls of watching the race are just barbaric. It buffers for a long time when performing any action. There are just so many issues I cannot even list them all with how the f1 tv app functions. This is very frustrating because it would not be that hard to just hire a team to update the app. Because once again the content really is pretty great.

$90 a year is not cheap. I’ve used this app for years now and I just missed two of the last three races live because of issues. F1 was unwilling to make it right.
Default to international coverage. Your homegrown coverage lacks heart. The first optional to view post race should be the race, not the summary.
Provides, on iPad, Apple TV and iPhone exceptional coverage of this sport. Never a hiccup in the performance of the app. They never tell you the results before you watch (unlike ESPN for F1 and Peacock for Indy car). Most importantly the team of presenters and experts are fantastic. Love it.
Be extremely skeptical about all these 4 and 5 star reviews because this app is just awful. Airplay works for one minute and then throws an error. I couldn’t make it work after an hour or so of trying. This has been happening for years and they don’t seem to care.
