Fairytrail: Find Travel Buddy

The concept is fantastic, always felt like an app for finding travel buddies and nomads was missing from the market. I really appreciate the “most adventurous experience”, “values”, “things I love” sections - they make starting a conversation so much easier while also learning something about the person you’re connecting to. The UI is clean and user friendly.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it’s super to easy to meet travelers. You can find travel buddies based on current country or upcoming destinations. Met some new friends using this app in Bansko. Lots of nomads on it!

This is a great idea and I’d like to see this app expand. It really needs some features to help us find people close to us. Right now it just has it by country instead of by city. I would like a filtered search by distance and even something to automatically update my location when I move. I would also like to see more user data points including who/what you are looking for by being here in the app.

Ultimately not a bad concept for an app, but there’s no good mechanism to use it for free, and no ‘try before you buy’ trial option. You can theoretically use it for free by referring friends instead of paying, which is in theory a good concept since it allows users to help grow the app instead of paying, but in practice I just deleted the app. I downloaded it because I don’t already know a bunch of remote working travelers, and thus want to meet them, and inviting a bunch of my non-traveling friends and explaining to them that I’m inviting them to an app they don’t want because I want to use it was not palatable. What I was able to see of the app, however, seemed positive. I’m hoping they enact a free trial in the future because I would be interested to actually try it.

I travel the world and am glad an app exists for people like us. Enjoying connecting with like minded individuals.

I loveeee this app! It’s so useful for travel enthusiasts like me. Sometimes I just want to take off to the Bahamas or something but no one I know is down so I go on here and match with someone I’d like to hang with! I met a girl here 3 years ago and we’ve been best friends ever since. We’ve gone on 5 more trips after that! Definitely worth the download

This app is great and if you feel lonely and need to get out of the house then I suggest this app. Thank you fairytrail for making my life feel better.

So far, a fantastic little app!! I can’t wait to meet up and make lifelong friends. I think the idea is unique and the execution is flawless.

This app was great, though rough around the edges. But with the recent update, it seems like they smoothed the edges, but now necessary functionality is behind an expensive price wall. You now have to pay to see who wants to connect with you. And you have to pay to be able to undo skips (very necessary with the small user base). Before, when these functions were free, I managed to go through the apps full base of users with decently broad filters in a short span, so I know the user base is small, so the price wall for these features aren’t justifiable in my opinion. And with these changes, I expect the user base to shrink further. Especially with there being other apps out there that offer the same utility, but without the price wall. This was my favorite nomad dating app and I hope it will be again one day, but until changes are made, I recommend using another app. (Edit: I gave this more consideration and have changed my mind a bit. I appreciate the Fairytrail team for making this app for us, and I think there needs to be a good way for them to get paid for their efforts. And since this app is really good, other than the high pricing for key (but not 100% needed) functionality, I’ve increased my rating for it. But I hope they make this more affordable in the future and the new pricing doesn’t shrink the pool of users, because it still seems too small of a user population to justify the price.)

An app like this has been missing for a while and I hope they continue to build their user base. I like the improvements they’ve made since the last version (I.e. getting rid of the trips and MBTI types, and improving the chat functionality). Looking forward to meeting people through this!
