Family Museum is for that moment. Voice memoir meets family tree. Tap record and let them talk. Their words appear as they speak, written down right on your iPhone. When they stop, Family Museum helps you mark who said which line, finds the people, places and dates they mention, and keeps the story with everyone in it on your family tree. A family tree of voices, not just names and dates. What it does — Records any length, pauses when they pause, and keeps going when the phone locks — Writes down every word on your iPhone with Apple Speech, then labels who was speaking — Opens on your family tree: tap anyone to see who they are to you, invite them, or open their page — Gives every person a page: the stories they told in their own voice, and what the family says about them, year by year — Suggests when a story happened from what was said — "when I was ten" becomes a year — for you to confirm — Adds photos to stories, follows the transcript as the recording plays, and brings in Voice Memos or audio files — Ask anything in plain English ("what stories happen in the kitchen?") and get answers that point back to the recordings — Syncs privately across your devices with iCloud and shares your family with relatives through Apple's CloudKit — and you choose who can hear each story: the family, or some people — Shares a single story outside the app as a 30-second clip with a quote card, behind a link that expires and that you can take back Who it's for — Anyone with an elder whose voice they don't want to forget — Families spread across homes who want one shared oral history — People who write their parents' stories on napkins at dinner and lose them by Tuesday — Anyone building a family tree who wishes the boxes had voices, not just dates Subscription — Family Museum Pro The first 10 stories are free. If you turn on "Use the internet when needed" and your iPhone can't do it alone, a recording may go to AssemblyAI to be written down, and a story's words to Anthropic to find names and dates. Ask sends your question and the words of the stories it searches to Anthropic through our relay. Stories for "Some people", and stories not shared yet, are never sent to AssemblyAI or Anthropic. Sharing with relatives uses Apple's CloudKit. A story you share outside the app is kept on our server for up to 30 days, and you can take it back sooner.
