## FCC Mobile Speed Test Description
About this app

You can use the FCC Mobile Speed Test app to take mobile speed tests that will help improve the Federal Communication Commissions (FCC) National Broadband Map. The app can also test the speed of your wireless broadband connection!

The ad-free FCC Mobile Speed Test app offers three speed test options: Challenge, Crowdsource, and QuickCheck.

Challenge speed tests enable you to dispute, or “challenge,” your provider’s mobile coverage shown on the National Broadband Map. Once enough negative challenges are filed with the FCC, the provider must respond or correct their coverage maps.

Crowdsource speed tests help the FCC evaluate mobile coverage across the United States and verify the accuracy of the National Broadband Map.

QuickCheck speed tests let you test the speed of your wireless network connection without submitting a challenge or sharing your contact information with the FCC.

To learn more about the FCC’s National Broadband Map, go to www.fcc.gov/BroadbandData.

App Features:

• Use the “Repeated Test” option to perform back-to-back Challenge, Crowdsource, or Quick Check tests for up to 4 hours without having to initiate a new test each time.
• Run scheduled Crowdsource tests seamlessly in the background at your desired frequency.
• Set a data cap to limit the amount of data the app can use for tests over a one-month period.
• View test results in the History section.
• Export and save results as a CSV on your device or email yourself a ZIP file with test results.

This is the official mobile speed test app of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Consistent with the FCC’s rules, users taking Challenge or Crowdsource test must enter certain personal contact information: name, phone number, and email address.

Privacy:
We protect your privacy, and you can choose to share data with specific parties. Refer to the Privacy Notice for more details or get the App for more information.

The FCC may share your contact info with your mobile broadband provider if you choose to run a Challenge test so that the provider can use your data plan and other technical information to fully evaluate the test result.

## FCC Mobile Speed Test Reviews in United States

### *---- "“Airplane mode” bug"
This app is buggy and is unable to perform speed tests in areas I do not receive service in Northern Wisconsin which really defeats the point of this app. When I start a test in an area without service it says I need to turn off airplane mode but I am not in airplane mode, I just do not have service. Phone companies in northern Wisconsin have removed 3g service coverage which has significantly impacted phone coverage and dropped calls gave increased greatly.

### *---- "Questionable data access"
I really liked the original FCC speed test as it seemed accurate, didn’t ask for personal info, and didn’t require location services on. Now this new version requires location and personal contact info. Of course the app will allow a Quick Check test without entering personal info but that’s it. If you’re wanting any functionality out of this app then be prepared to tell them all your contact info, location, and even whether you are inside or outside. If they are hoping to use cellular speeds to help build cell signal maps then all they would need is your speed results plus location instead of my personal contact info.

### *---- "Requires Account"
This updated app requires users to create a profile.
-- nebulouz, 2024-11-23

### *---- "Highly Suspect"
Why is this framed to look like an official U.S. government app that’s made by a developer that doesn’t have a website? If you click on support, the page gives a 404.
-- Molly O'Poverty, 2024-11-21

### **--- "11/20/2024 don’t update still requiring your name"
The only thing that doesn’t require it is the quick check.
-- DeerSpotter, 2024-11-20

-- Matveeva00, 2024-11-11

### ***** "Quick and Reliable"
This speed test app never lets me down. Super happy with it.
-- ghf008, 2024-11-04

### *---- "Waste of time and data"
Submitted 30 tests of extremely slow data with all my personal information… shows up in the challenge list but never actually generated a carrier challenge. Why bother?
-- Buyphone, 2024-11-02

### ***** "Very happy with it"
This app is so easy to use
