News, capitalism, culture and interviews!
I’ve looked briefly at FT content as an extra while subscribing to other sources. Trying a full paid subscription now for a time - and I am amazed at how much content and variety that there is in this product. Combined with some serious depth and heft. Steep cost of admission, but . . . Wow!
Some good analysis but that’s outweighed by the many articles that are indifferently and woodenly written. Opinion pieces are woolly and couched to such an extent as to be ultimately meaningless. There seems to be no editing of the copy or perhaps there is and it only makes it worse Earnings reports are barely rewritten from the press releases they came from. This could be a much better newspaper.
World’s greatest business newspaper!
The Financial Times is one of the English-speaking world’s top five news providers. While it is not as comprehensive (or focused on investigative journalism) as the New York Times and other journals, it does try to ensure that it hires top-flight journalists who actually corroborate what they report, to the extent that is possible (in some places, like China, Iran and, of course, Putin’s Russia, that isn’t easy). It sometimes falls down in terms of its effort to moderate comments offered by subscribers. This is a problem, as it is clear that many corporate entities (political parties and big businesses in democratic states, as well as agents and apologists who serve authoritarian states) are all quite active; intemperate contributions from bonafide subscribers are also a problem. But where isn’t the moderation of subscriber comments a challenge? The FT arguably do a better job than most other publications and social media platforms.
Used to be what kept me coming back. Now you can only comment on articles about apple orchards or something equally benign. Sad.
I enjoy reading FP
hello, the newsletters with this white background is harsh. the beauty of the financial times is also the ease on eyes when reading unlike others. give us the option to choose. thank you.
I have been reading FT for 3 decades, I find the global perspective and analysis tremendous and lunch with FT and weekend addition excellent. In a very fast moving world with many economic and geopolitical challenges, FT in my view provides excellent daily perspectives and insights I cannot find elsewhere on a daily basis and very professional reporting.
