Produced by Micro Games of America™, Finders Creepers™ is the first game in its App-Vanced™ game line, where augmented reality and tabletop gaming meet. This companion app puts players in the role of paranormal hunters, who are tasked by their slightly maniacal “AI” assistant, Boogle™, to investigate haunted houses and rid them of the monsters hiding inside. Boogle™ teaches players how to play and gives them the tools to find and catch the monsters hiding on the board. But when too many haunted objects invade the board, the monsters will escape and haunt your house. In this Grand Escape AR event, players will use Boogle™ to blast the monsters in the real world and bring them back to the haunted house board. After we got the game set up, we downloaded and opened the app only to be extremely disappointed. The app constantly changed which player’s turn it was, often moving from one player to the next in the middle of someone’s turn. We got so discouraged within the first five minutes of play that we walked away from the game. All of the cards and game pieces are beautiful and the board looks fantastic. Initially I was very impressed with the game and pleased with my $25 purchase. At least until we started playing using the app. Once every few turns someone would disconnect or get kicked out of the app. If it was their turn, they’d have 3-4 seconds to reconnect or their turn would be skipped. We were having to take impromptu turns without using the app when their turns were skipped. Eventually we became so frustrated we stopped playing, as with children the game will take some time. Long story short, once the issues with the app are resolved, the game is going to be a great purchase and well worth investing in.
