## First Aid Reviews in Australia

### ****- "DRSABC issue/clarification"
This app is really quite good, there is a bit of an issue with the DRSABC which may lead to confusion for the general public in an emergency: there isn’t a check for circulation, it is probably a good idea to clarify this.

I was impressed my the word choice of ‘not breathing properly’ most of the public believe that the casualty will stop breathing then Cardiac Arrest or AMI occurs. I would put a special note on the side saying that the patient can still be breathing when starting CPR, I know that it can be really scary when someone is in cardiac arrest and they may hesitate because the patient is still breathing. This may not be a problem if they are on 000 with an operator though, I just thought I would just recommend it in case.

### ****- "Good but needs improvement!"
I would like the symptoms and signs included in the app, especially for diabetes. An average wouldn’t know the difference between a “hypo” and their elbow! The same goes for snake and spider bite.
-- please fix it disappointed, 2021-05-22

### ***-- "Essential app (small text)"
This is an essential app.
great features, however, thecould do with some accessibility improvements.

The instruction text could be much bigger or scalable. This would save the need for glasses for those that have scaled up their text in iOS. Pinch to zoom and scale text would be brilliant or some text size buttons as found on many websites.

I also agree with other reviewer that after a step is completed there should be an option to go back 1 step, rather than removing the previous steps. The back button jumps out of the injury being treated.

Looking forward to future updates.

### ****- "Missing item"
Looks good. App doesn’t have any advice on strokes, suspected or otherwise. Since this is one of the more serious conditions, it needs to be included
-- GreatSouthLand, 2021-04-19

### ****- "Not bad!"
Would be better if the app allowed you to go backwards a step - eg back to 4 if you’re on 5, rather than having to get out of the injury all together.

Also would be VITAL if it showed images of the insect/jellyfish etc that bites so we know the difference - because treatment of a box and bluebottle jellyFish are completely different and you don’t want to make that mistake

### ****- "Great resource"
This app is fantastic and is a great resource of information. It could be improved however by including a picture of all the creatures that sting and bite on their respective pages. Also perhaps a picture of an epipen on the allergic reactions page.

### *---- "Phoned it in."
Just did the St. John First Aid course. The app is very basic, missing the bulk of First Aid. Has grouped SCA, Heart Attack and Angina as one thing. Doesn’t cover Stroke, Epileptic Seizures, Fainting, Febrile Convulsions, Internal Bleeding, Open Wounds, Amputations, Embedded Puncture Wounds, Crush Injury, Electric Shock, Dislocation, Head Injury, Spinal & Neck Injury, Abdominal Injury, Penetrating Chest Wounds, Eye Injury, Heat Stroke, Heat Exhaustion, Hypothermia or Poisoning. I need an app that covers everything I just did in the course, not this half arsed effort.
-- DamoBG, 2020-02-08

### ****- "Missing sections"
There are subject areas from your course not in the app, e.g. Stroke
-- nicknamesarealltaken111, 2020-02-05

### **--- "Good resource but quite limited and missing vital info"
Some pretty important first aid issues are missing such as strokes, seizures, heart attack (there is chest pain but this only seems to cover angina), dislocations, heat exhaustion/heat stroke, hypothermia and hyperthermia, and head, neck, spinal, abdominal and pelvic injuries. Also how about some advice on bandages, pads, slings, first aider safety (e.g. gloves and other PPE) and other first aid necessities?

### ***** "iPhone offloads the app if not used regularly!"
This isn’t an issue with the app but a problem with iPhones/iPads. If you don’t use an app regularly, I found out it gets offloaded automatically by my iPhone. Basically that means the app and all the data gets put on the cloud and you have to download it again to access it. It’s to help with storage I think. You have to go deep into Settings to turn this feature off.

In the case of the First Aid app (that I’ve luckily never needed to use in an emergency), this could lead to devastating problems. Let’s say the app gets offloaded without you realising and you don’t have enough credit to download it onto your phone during an emergency, there could be huge repercussions. Anyway, I didn’t know where else to make this issue known... It’s something to be aware of.
