Description

First Look: Artists’ VR,” a virtual reality exhibition in the form of a free mobile VR app created by Eevo organized by the New Museum and Rhizome.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, “First Look: Artists’ VR” presents a diversity of experimental approaches to digital animation in virtual reality. The six new works include a memorial to victims of police violence (Jayson Musson), an uncanny scenario of deconstructed video game characters (Rachel Rossin), a journey through a fantastical industrial nightclub (Jacolby Satterwhite), a mutating labyrinth populated with writhing figures (Peter Burr with Porpentine), a simulation of the afterlife (Jeremy Couillard), and an unsettling dive into an alternate world rife with avatars both banal and magical (Jon Rafman). Established in 2012 and co-organized by the New Museum and Rhizome, First Look is a digital art commissioning and exhibition program.
