## FishingBC Description
NEW & IMPROVED FOR SPRING 2026! FishingBC is the official app for tidal (saltwater) fishing in British Columbia, created by the Sport Fishing Institute of BC with support from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.

Features:
• Now the FishingBC app replaces the need to carry a paper licence! After linking it with your BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence, the FishingBC app allows you to permanently record, store, and display mandatory catch information including for Chinook salmon, halibut, and lingcod, as well as provide proof of your current, valid licence.
• Up-to-date, easy-to-view official regulations including closures and contamination areas.
• Updated catch log and species ID to identify and record your catch and access your historical catch data.
• Certified Tidal Angling Guides (CTAG) can now easily complete DFO catch log requirements.
• UBC Enhanced Catch Log provides additional Chinook and Coho catch log information to University of British Columbia researchers.
• Current, location-based weather forecasts including marine synopsis.

## FishingBC Reviews in Canada

### ***** "👍🏻"
Cool App
-- FishKingNW, 2024-10-25

### ***** "Awesome"
Great app…..finally a translation of the usual DFO mumbo jumbo……..👍👍👍
-- Justryintobelegal, 2024-10-04

### ***** "Regs snd boundaries"
This app with overlays is only way to know what the regs are within the boundaries.
-- WD Gman, 2024-08-22

### ***** "Good with room for improvement"
Great and simple app. The regulations would be extremely difficult to understand without it. Some of the feature like the pic of the fish to id it are broken. It said my yellow eye rockfish was a salmon
-- Jim 78669, 2024-08-21

### ****- "Fishing app review"
Mostly the app is very good. However, the maps are terrible. It is very difficult to discern the boundaries of RCAs and other features. You can’t even begin to zoom in enough for them to be useful. Why not put some more detailed and useful maps on the system?
-- Fishing app review, 2024-08-18

### *---- "Confusing app"
App is hard to understand and confusing, regulations are hard to understand and chopped up, little info here and little info there. If you want people to fish responsibly make it easier to understand
-- noers1234567890, 2024-08-13

### ****- "Fantastic app"
Thank you all for a really great app, your updates are spot on, maps, boundaries and updates are great, I think you set the standard on quality and attention to detail ……GREAT JOB
-- simonkate11, 2024-08-12

### ***** "Great app"
It’s a great app but I can’t link my BC gov account to it, I have an angler number and license already with them but when I try to recover it through the link and type in my birth date and license number it doesn’t give me anything to select, I made an nrls account but it still wants me to buy a new license through them even though I have a license already. Other then that great app
-- interior sucks, 2024-07-05

### *---- "Wrong Regis"
Regis for area 14 do not match do website ????
-- JenE!!!, 2023-09-03

### ****- "Well done app"
It has a lot of good information, well presented and options for saving catches including saving your current fishing licence. But, sometimes, when you click on the link to access the ability to have AI identify your catch via your phones camera, it’s a dead link. Maybe it will be fixed in a future update, but all in all, this is a good app.
