Flamingo Fares FAQ
Is Flamingo Fares free?
Yes, Flamingo Fares is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Flamingo Fares legit?
⚠️ The Flamingo Fares app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
While it has many features, the main one (pretty much the only one I need) is purchasing cards… I am way too busy to be going to specific & out of the way locations to purchase monthly cards… You can load virtual cards, but they are non-transferable to other virtual cards… If I load a virtual card on my device, I can’t transfer $ to my son’s card.
Unusable - can’t add payment method
The application is entirely unusable because, regardless of which credit card I try (and I’ve tried three different ones) it always returns an error. When I attempted to contact PSTA, they couldn’t do anything for me. Absolute junk of an application.
terrible app, stay away
this trash piece of garbage is ran by garbage developers. you’re better off just using cash or a physical debit card when taking the bus.
No way to edit credit card
Only thing that changed on my expired credit card was the expiration date. I cannot edit the card loaded in the app and I can’t delete it.
HARTLine
Best app for cashless fares !!!
Terrible to use and doesn’t even work
Doesn’t autofill information, terrible UI, then when I actually got on the trolley it didn’t even work. I assume the 5 star reviews are from using the “please review our app” popup and the default is 5 stars. This might actually be the single worst app I’ve ever used in my life.
Won’t accept P.O. Box mailing addresses
I wanted to use this app, but it won’t allow me because my credit card mailing address is a PO Box-this is such a basic thing. The app should’ve never been released without having this functionality.
Absolutely garbage - Virtual card problems
Last used the app march 2023. It’s now October 2023 and apparently there is an update five months ago. I had to re login (for some reason aka phone reset etc) and now it forces a new virtual card created. I can see the old virtual card with $7.80 under “manage” along with the new virtual card with $0.00 under “manage” but can only “use” the new virtual card. There is no way to switch which virtual card to use. In the past, I had to have two separate devices and two separate accounts aka emails and phone numbers with separate virtual cards and separate balances if two riders in a family were making a trip. I’m going to give up on this app and see if I can get balances transferred to physical cards. Also I had to regularly delete my credit card information from the app to prevent being charged for unwanted reloads that were caused by pocket taps during use resulting in excessive bank fees. Just doesn’t work right. No meaningful beta testing and Psta et al forcing flamingo fares to be used exclusively for ridership. Just a forced disaster from people who hate public transport and especially those that use it.
A Disaster
Very long and complicated account setup form. Why do you need me to make a pin, password, tell you my birthday, and tell you my address? I’m just trying to ride the bus.
The App Store lists this as “Works with Wallet” but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add my pass to Apple wallet. It does not support Express Transit.
The app layout won’t win any design awards. Big opportunity missed not having a cute flamingo mascot.
The payment method form worries me. The app does not support Apple Pay which means your credit card info will get lost if / when the app is breached. I advise anyone using this to generate a virtual / 1 time card number.
I wish we could avoid the app entirely and purchase a pass directly through the Apple Wallet app like you can with SO many other transit systems. (Although I know calling the Tampa region a “transit system” is a stretch)
Won’t accept any Credit Card
I keep trying to save my credit cards and it just says “error please verify details and try again.” I’ve tried multiple cards and verified the info multiple times. Definitely an app issue rendering it useless until it’s fixed.
Edit: even tho the app wouldn’t store any credit cards, I was able to add funds and use it while visiting Tampa.
