The Flashpoint APP operates in tandem with the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II transmitter as a mobile phone gateway to the graphical control of the R2 2.4GHz Wireless Radio Remote TTL System. The combination links seamlessly to a wide range of Flashpoint professional flash and LED products, from the mighty Rapid 1200 AC monolight to the lithium powered XPLOR’s and eVOLV’s portable strobes and on to the Zoom and Streaklight speedlights – all for use with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and Panasonic/Olympus cameras.
The FP APP expands the capabilities of your built-in smartphone camera to gain membership in the R2 Family. Capture like never before as part of the most expansive, elite club of flash and LED available for the imaging world.
Every aspect of lighting nuance is before you on the screen; exposure, mode, modeling lamp, audio tones, stroboscopic range, as well as the 32 secure channels and 16 group designations. You can set it, test it, change it and memorize the stored settings for future events. Customize the R2 Family experience as you want it, without ever getting near your gear. No less than 16 pages of micromanagement of every exacting parameter relating to your lighting for studio or on location. It’s the discerning photographer’s dream come true.
Wanted to pile on and ask Godox to put in some work on this app. Having it take pictures and fire the strobe through the trigger it is connected to would be a dream come true. It can already test fire. A few more lines of code and we’re there.
Recycling
Same as the other reviews… Evidently this app has not worked for years. Every time you try to take a photo, the app just says “recycling” and will not take a picture. All other functionality is pretty much useless from there. Wish I had read the reviews before downloading and spending all this time trying to set this up :(
🤷🏻♂️
Doesn’t connect…it seems to be a good “idea” but the app is DOA.
Not working
Wen I try to shoot, say recycling
Split View/landscape support please!
I am writing this hoping that the developers see it.
I love the app and use it everyday for work on my iPad. I use this app while also using the CamRanger app and it is quite inconvenient to have to switch back and forth between the apps constantly. If you could PLEASE make this app compatible with landscape view and Split View on iPad this would be so much more convenient and would increase my workflow tremendously. Thank you so much!
Useless
I see absolutely no use in this app. Why do I want to use the cell phone to adjust parameters if I have the trigger? The ideal would be to be able to shoot with the cell phone and activate the flash. Silly app.
Works Great for me
I’m not certain how the other folks who rated the app use it, but I’ve not had any issues for my purposes. I primarily use it to control the Power values on 5 or 6 GODOX and Flashpoint mono-lights at a time for my DSLR - don’t use the camera option at all. It quickly connects to the trigger and allows easily changing values for any group. I especially like the ability to put any group in standby mode which makes testing a single group at a time very easy. The function to export and import all settings at once along with a photo of the result is handy since I use multiple cameras and multiple triggers at the same time.
AWB does not work, displays whatever the last manually selected WB was/is.
AWB for my local iPhone 10XS Max Camera does not work in this app at all. The App fails 100% on this front - forcing me to manually select WB from the App’s preset options. Once one has been selected if you try the “AWB” again it will show the output based on the previous manually selected option so it is definitely NOT AWB. Switching to Incandescent and then to AWB will yield the exact same result (note only after selecting “Incandescent” at least one time prior to setting AWB). If I attempt AWB to begin with the colors are unacceptably poor. There’s Simply Not enough QA on this App. Note that I got this App for the Wireless Flash Control options, I didn’t even know it had a phone Camera function… Personally I would remove that function until it actually works and focus QA efforts towards the Flash Control aspect as that is clearly *the selling point here*. To be fair there may be some customers that use an iPad/phone camera for RealEstate and need to use Real Flashes but the majority of users are here for granular control over R2 Pro controlled strobes and GoDox units. That *really* that needs to work before releasing the iPad/iPhone Camera feature in the App. On the strobe/flash control side I’m still testing the App with my AD200’s and Sony mounted R2ProMark2. I’ll provide more feedback as needed.
Stop wasting our time
I’m another customer who just wasted time and effort on trying to get this app to work, but getting the same error “recycling” message that others reported almost a year ago?
Stop wasting our time and either fix this bug or pull the app from the store.
I wanted to love this
Profoto recently made huge waves by allowing iPhone users to connect with and use their strobes with their phones camera. With their price being so far out of reach, I figured I just wouldn't ever get that feature.. But today after getting my R2 transmitter, I found buried at the back of the book mention of this app and the ability to do just that!
But as others have stated almost a year ago now, I can connect to the R2, I can configure and test for the strobes, but once I enter the camera portion of the app? No strobe. Only a message: "Recycling..."
And that basically drops the appeal of this app to nil for me. Maybe I'd use it two or three times a year to mass-configure my lights, but why would I scramble to do with my phone what I could easily accomplish with the camera and transmitter that's already in my hands?
