Battery Hog

Trying this out for a scratch pad to sync to obsidian. On a brand new iphone 14 pro max, had it open on screen for 90 minutes slowly writing some stuff and it drained my battery almost thirty percent. I think the only other app that does that much battery drain in that time frame is TikTok. What's it doing??

Serious issues

Markdown is a joke. It only sometimes works in the note and never in list view. It mostly doesn't work at all given it depends on what markdown you're trying to use. On top of that, it's ridiculous that you can't sort without using search which I neither want nor need. Why can you save searches, but not create lists? That makes zero sense. Not that it works for more than one note anyway. I want all notes at once in the order I want them.

Want to Like It but Sync Function Needs a LOT of Work

I first discovered Fleeting Notes through the Chrome extension store and then discovered it had accompanying iOS apps for iPhone and iPad. I was deciding between this and Eloquence and that is the factor that made me choose Fleeting Notes. However, I am constantly having issues with the sync. I know not every app under the sun can sync at light speed, especially if they are still perfecting their product, but this is ridiculous. I will hit force sync over and over and nothing happens. It says on the Obsidian plugin that it resyncs every 30 minutes or so. Well, I made a note using the Chrome extension at around 1:30pm today. It is now almost 9:30pm and it is STILL not there. It’s not in Obsidian, nor is it in the Fleeting Notes app itself. It takes WAY too long. I use apps like Notion and NotePlan religiously and when I make any kind of change in either app on one device, I can literally refresh the page on another device seconds later and the changes are right there. I won’t delete it just yet but, unfortunately, it looks like I’m inevitably going to head that route.

Nope

I wanted to like it. Really but they have forced me to logout and signing back in lost all my notes. Was trying to sync it to my laptop but it erased all my notes on the ios which was local. Big, huge waste of time. Only allowed to sign in one device at a time but can’t trust your notes. P.S. im so disappointed as a lot of important stuff just vanished.

Very basic capture app, but expensive pricing model

This looked promising. But the pricing is just absurd. “100% free” is just a bait for an expensive subscription that is required. Rated one star.

Perfect app to pair with Obsidian

Wow, I’m ridiculously impressed with this app. Simple, lightweight, clean, and does exactly what it says. The browser extension, mobile app, web app, and obsidian sync all work perfectly so far. This app is perfect to use alongside Obsidian. It solves multiple issues with quick capture of thought/ideas/content that I’ve had. Honestly, I could also see this app being useful on its own. Being able to quickly pull links to web pages that I want to read later is amazing. On mobile, you can just share the page from your browser to this app and it can auto add the link to a note. On desktop, the Firefox/chrome browser extension can auto add the link for the page you’re currently on when you add a new note. It makes capturing those links simple, without cluttering up obsidian using other web clippers. This app makes it slightly faster to jot down random thoughts throughout the day. New note creation is much smoother using this app and the app opens faster than Obsidian. This wasn’t a huge issue for me, but removing friction from capturing quick thoughts/ideas is always worth it. Jotting down quick notes directly from the browser window is helpful. When working on my laptop, I no longer have to repeatedly switch windows when note taking. Adding wikilinks to the notes (with autocomplete) within the app is a nice additional feature. Linking between quick notes created in the app works well. Obviously, it can’t initially autocomplete links to notes within your obsidian vault. However, if you add a link to a note from your vault once in any fleeting note in the app, it will be autocompleted after that. This is a surprisingly nice feature if you want to link to the same vault note in multiple quick notes. Finally, there’s a basic templating feature in the obsidian plugin that imports the notes from the app into your vault. This allows adding headings and whatever frontmatter metadata and tags you want for imported notes automatically, meaning you don’t have to worry about that when writing a note. I don’t often take the time to leave reviews, but I wanted to support the dev because this app is great and I would love to see it maintained. I was honestly thinking about making something similar at some point in the future, but you basically solved my Obsidian quick capture problem. I’ll definitely be subbing to premium (also reasonably priced).
