I just wanted to track Bae’s flight so I can be at the airport to pick her up on time, FlightAware was unnecessarily convoluted and a waste of time. Googling the flight number told me everything I needed to know in a matter of seconds. As a software developer and generally savvy technologist, this app requires *far* too many steps/clicks to achieve simple tasks, like tracking a flight. A simple search for the flight number in any contemporary web browser will yield more accurate results more quickly. Attempting to drill into the details of a saved flight provides incorrect results. Not recommended unless you truly want/need the advanced features, which may or may not work…I did not try them.

Flight Aware is the most accurate system to know where you are or your loved ones. With just a simple input (flight number) you have a great number of possibilities to track your flight. I have a son who goes to college out of our country. An he visits us frequently and goes on trips with friends every once in a while. Just being able to monitor his whereabouts is a great advantage and keeps us calm at home.

As an aviation buff I must and will say this is indeed a very useful app. I track family flights from all over the globe . I also use it when I’m tracking incoming flights to see were my plane is at as it helps immensely with planning my time at the airport . It’s as accurate as it can get . Just a couple of things that I believe will Make this app even superior 1: Make this a 3D app were we can view the planes we are tracking from all different angles . That’s will be awesome 2: Being able to track the plane rights it pulls up to the gate in real time will be a nice touch 3: A redesign to freshen it up instead of changing colours will be cool 4: The ability to hear air traffic control when tracking a particular flight will be heaven for us aviation enthusiasts

I’ve used FlightAware on several trips but I recognized how well it works and how quickly it provides updated flight information - using simplified processes - when my six kids and grand kids flew from Ontario, CA (ONT) via Dallas-Ft Worth (DFW) to Knoxville, TN (TYS) - and back to CA by reversing their route, in late May 2024. All flights were on a major American air carrier known by the initials “AA.” The aviation weather around DFW was bad, both coming and going. Accordingly, their flight out of ONT was delayed several hours. I noticed FlightAware posted the delays and then, their departure, on an almost “real time” basis. They arrived at DFW three hours behind schedule, but their connecting flight - and dozens of other delayed flights - was still waiting to depart because of the weather. Their total scheduled flight time of just over 7 hours turned into a 14 hour passage - with as much time waiting to board a flight as time they were flying. FlightAware updated their flight’s delays and departure times and I was able to know where they were, the whole 14 hours. On the way back home, I said goodbye at the curb at TYS, about 90 minutes before their scheduled departure. After delays, they left two hours late - again as an AA / FAA safety measure because of a foul weather flight backups at DFW. Once they reached DFW, their scheduled flight was delayed but had already been boarded. (With surprising efficiency AA boarded their luggage on that flight and it reached ONT two days before they did. 😩) Due to a lot of unavoidable operational issues, the next flight to ONT was delayed until it was cancelled. Same for the next two flights to ONT. Finally, on early Friday morning, I (who had purchased their flight tickets) received an AA message that I “should arrange other transportation.” AA simply was swamped with weather delays, crew time outs, and FAA unavoidable ATC problems. They rented a large SUV and drove from DAL to Ontario - in 36 hours - with an overnight in ABQ. During their flying trip, I used FlightAware to keep track of both their progress and their flight delays. I say the app is simplified because I was able to steer my travelers to the app and they downloaded it and within minutes, they were privy to what was happening with their flights. I entered my upcoming trips but when I check them on the main page they are sorted backwards. Very inconvenient. The top entry is my last flight not my first. My first flight is at the bottom of the list, last. I tried “managing” the flights resorting them. It worked on that page but upon returning to the main page they were reversed again. I have found the application is full of a lot of little useful things, hard to find. It needs some little labels or a simple fast redesign. However, regarding price/value it’s the best application I can find. Yes their are prettier more colorful apps out there that maybe are easier to use and enter information into but no way am I spending the kind of money they want for those features. Let’s remember a few years back when these apps did not exist. You got dropped off at the airport, made your way around, got on the plane and called when you got there, all for free! I have the paid version of this application as I find the cost/features reasonable.

Flight Aware used to be ahead of the game when I came to flight updates. Sadly, they are not. Not only do that not have the gate information, but my very late flight is still showing on time in the app. Very disappointed.

For those who love aviation, this is a “must have“ app.

Use a globe. More pleasing, more realistic, no distortion.
