HOW IT WORKS

Most aircraft today are equipped with ADS-B transponders that transmit positional data. Flightradar24 has a rapidly growing network of 35,000 ground stations around the world to receive this data that then shows up as aircraft moving on a map in the app. In an expanding number of regions, with the help of multilateration (MLAT), we’re able to calculate the positions of aircraft that don’t have ADS-B transponders.

My favourite app!

I absolutely love using flightradar24 as an aviation enthusiast who started this journey over a year ago. Just this app alone has helped me learn so much about aviation, and I use this app daily now! I've learnt things like callsigns, flight paths, tail numbers, weather, squawk 7700 that I've previously only read about but with flightradar I get to see these things in real life.

Not bad, but also not perfect.

I really like FlightRadar24, and how you can track any flight for free, but what I would love to see is a major design improvement, since this design isn’t bad, but could be better. Also, I really hope it’s data could refresh quicker, since in some airports, I can’t see any planes, though there are definitely many.
