Focal & Naim

The reliability of the Naim app has improved dramatically since it became a combined Focal & Naim app. Connection to devices has finally become rock solid. It still doesn’t always find them as easily and reliably as apps like Roon, AirPlay etc, but it is decent. The UI is generally good, although could use some improvements when navigating through streaming services, internet radio etc.

The app is clunky, loses the speakers and server - when it works the sound is fabulous. But oh dear, the app…

After struggles over the years they have made the app worthy of Naim. Thanks

Constantly asks to connect a new device but can’t find existing. Rubbish app

Constantly crashing when trying to search for a Firmware update. App was great before ? What’s happened ?

I’ve had a muso and muso 2 and both have the problem of being controlled by the app. I’ve reset them and reconnected them time and time again to get them visible to the app. I can see there connected on my network but the app fails to find them. It needs a big overhaul. The hardware is being let down by the software

I have used this improved app for 5 years. I used the beta app too when it was available. Personally I have not had any significant issues. OK, Multi room does have occasional temporary dropouts e.g. with Muso from Nova or vice versa but closing app and restarting it sorts problems out. It has got much better over the years.

I have dual streaming, an historical quirk, using both Naim and Linn. I have found this Naim app to work easily and accurately. Largely intuitive, except for Qobuz search where it is easy (until you know there are two search options) to find yourself searching new issues only rather than the entire Qobuz catalogue. It is certainly vastly better and easier to use than Linn’s app for their streamers which needs a complete rewrite.

Other times a real pain. I have 1st gen Muso QB and Muso, and Superuniti. The app either freezes completely or takes ages to navigate to IRadio (which I use regularly). When everything works it’s great. But too buggy to recommend.

Naim produce excellent hardware, which sound fantastic, but unfortunately this App is absolutely awful!! Constantly loses connection so is pretty much useless in controlling my Uniti Star!! I spend all my time trying to reconnect rather than enjoying the music. Really not good enough Naim…….
