FocusGenie Reviews

Very helpful

Incredibly helpful for managing overwhelming to do lists. A widget would be useful too.

Only available if you pay

‘In app purchases’ is misleading - the demo looked good but you can’t access the app until you pay. (Monthly or annually) not even a basic free model.

Helpful app for adhd

I’ve really enjoyed using the to do list especially because if a task is not completed it automatically rolls over to the next day so I do not forget tasks as often. I love that in the moment I can add to my list whereas with paper lists I would think of something in the go then forget by the time I was around my paper list. The learning modules can be nice as well. I do wish the app worked more consistently. At least a few times a month it will open but I cannot get it to respond. Update: I love how responsive and thoughtful the customer service is in regards to the one issue I’ve had. They instructed me via email to reinstall the app which so far has solved the issue

Crashes constantly

I enjoyed using the app at first but for the past month or more it freezes and I am unable to do anything. Very disappointed in what I thought would be an incredibly helpful app.

What the heck

I downloaded the app and started the free trial. I was super excited because I’ve been in a bit of a slump at work and I thought it’d really help my productivity but the app isn’t working at all. I can’t click on anything or even scroll. What the heck. This was supposed to be my saving grace 😩

Coming back and trying again

Came back to try again, and still experiencing app ending bugs. My main beef now revolves around the Pomo/focus timer. Resets if you are in another app for too long, then you age to reset the entire thing. Doesn’t notify or keep the timer active unless you stay in the app. Completely defeating the purpose of it being a phone app. Tried to use this for work and constantly had to reset the timer .. Why hasn’t this been fixed after almost 6 months past release ?

Pretty Great!

So far I do like the app, it’s clearly created by someone who understands ADD/ADHD! My only complaint would be the fonts are so tiny it’s hard to read sometimes. Wish I could log in from a computer instead of my Apple phone, for a bigger screen. I hope they fix this, it’s a game changer.

Some feedback

Han Graveyard on

United States

As someone with ADHD who is also a therapist specializing in ADHD I’m so grateful for people like Dr. Hamdani for creating tools to make mental things physical. This app has some cool stuff like daily mood and symptom tracking and the psycho-educational lessons are awesome. I also love the task timer function. I’ve had some challenges though: the task timer doesn’t make a sound when it’s time to take a break. The push notifications weren’t working. Tasks can’t be set to repeat Reword questions so they aren’t yes or no. For example “how are you different from your siblings?” instead of “are you different from your siblings?” The “mark as read” thing is very small - make it a button. When I used the timer: When I switched over to another app like messages, the study buddy image disappeared. Also once the app closed and my timer reset. Study buddy also froze regularly. Timer is inaccurate if you switch over to another app. Thanks for considering my feedback!

Thieves with no interest in improving ADHD

I sent a the developers tons of messages with no response. This app is such a waste of time and no one cares what you think or how it’s used. Absolute hypocrisy from the alleged mental health providers promoting this app.

Something to come back to

geewiz on

It’s only been a few days. But I find metals actually coming back to this app. It’s different. The whole idea of tokens and gamifying learning, the water tracking, the prompted journal entries that get you out of your head. It’s enjoyable to use.
