FODMAP Friendly Reviews

Best Fodmap App

FridaRos on

I like this app because of the layout and the graphics. It has everything, even recipes. And it’s free! The foods listed are extensive. I especially value the feature that shows the recommended quantity of the food that you can eat. They show this quantity in both volume and weight. When you click on a food, the graphics are awesome for the percentages of your daily max in each Fodmap category (sorbitol, mannitol, fructans, GOS, Lactose, Excess fructose.)

Wants too much personal info

Not sure I want more spam I’ll create a new burner email address. FODMAP is a potential issue for me. Not diagnosed so not willing to get more unsolicited emails

Update is great

Food list is expanded, more informative. Will be my go to over the other FODMAP Apps I have.

Great Resource!

One star reviews are outdated! Definitely worth giving a try. I’m new to low fodmap and trying to learn the basics and this app is super helpful! The recipes section is especially handy. I do have some feedback, but neither comment is a dealbreaker. The first is just a mild inconvenience really and that’s that I’m US-based and this app does not pick up on my American spelling in the search results. (I.e. “yogurt” initially came up with no results because it’s “yoghurt”. There’s no “whole milk” because it’s called “full cream”.) It would be NICE if it didn’t filter out my US spelling/lingo or if there were a US language setting, but again it’s not a dealbreaker. I can still find what I’m looking for by clicking on the categories and muddling through. The vast majority of foods are exactly the same so it’s not too much of a problem. The second is more of an issue that will bug me more as I go along, I’m sure. It would be helpful to have some kind of base ingredients or nutrients or something to compare to on things that are not single ingredients, such as mayo, bread, cookies, etc. How am I supposed to compare what I’m eating to what is listed when there are so many different products/recipes on the market? Especially knowing I’m in the US and the app is likely Australian based where the products aren’t made the same, I feel that adds an extra layer of unreliability when it comes to those foods. Most likely I will not be using those for reference often unless I have no clue where they fall on the fodmap spectrum. Even still, it’s a very decent database with a lot of helpful information to springboard from - even on the prepared foods it gives a general “guideline” to kind of point you in the right direction, even if it’s not super reliable - and when you’re starting with whole foods and learning fodmap it’s a really great place to begin.

They have improved

I definitely see improvement based off of what others have said and I feel like they took the other comments and reviews into consideration and it’s a much better app 👍🏼

Food lists not helpful

Almost everything I entered into the food lists wasn’t listed.

Don’t buy

Was great in the beginning for a month or two and then it stopped working completely

Seems to be broken

beanduquesimmons on

Users, find another fodmap app. Monash is worth the $ but the other free one on IOS is also okay. Typing into the search on this app sometimes automatically gets you no results before you even finish spelling a word. And you have to know EXACTLY how the food is listed for it to even come up in the search. These developers need to try harder.
