RAVE REVIEWS:

“This was an amazing way to walk the Freedom Trail!!! The tracking through the GPS was spot on and it was having all the information provided on all the points!!!”

“I did not know a lot about the American revolutionary war and without overwhelming me, it brought the events of the time to life for me”

"The freedom trail tour was great. Wife and I shared a pair of wireless earbuds which I recommend. The tour is broken into many small sections which automatically stayed as we walked to the next point on the trail. It all worked perfectly, was extremely easy to use and very informative.

APP FEATURES:

■ Award-winning platform
The app, which has been featured on Thrillist, received the famed “Laurel Award” from the Newport Mansions, who use Action Tour Guide for over a million tours per year.

■ Plays automatically
The app knows where you are and which direction you are heading, and plays audio automatically about the things you are seeing, plus stories and tips and advice. Simply follow the GPS map & the routing line.

■ Fascinating stories
Be immersed in an engaging, accurate, and entertaining story about each point of interest. The stories are professionally narrated and prepared by local guides. Most stops also have additional stories that you can optionally choose to hear.

■ Works offline
No data, cellular or even wireless network connection needed while taking the tour. Download over Wi-Fi/Data Network before your tour.

■ Freedom of travel
Explore on your own time, at your own pace, and with the flexibility to linger at stops that interest you. You have total freedom to skip ahead, stop and restart, and take as many photos as you’d like.

FREE DEMO vs FULL ACCESS:

Check out the free demo to get an idea of what this tour is all about. If you like it, purchase the tour to get full access to all of the stories.

QUICK TIPS:

■ Download ahead of time, over data or Wi-Fi.
■ Be sure the phone battery is fully charged, or take an external battery pack. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This app uses your location service and GPS tracking feature to allow real-time tracking of your route.

## Freedom Trail Boston Guide Reviews in United States

### ***** "Worth it!"
I believe it’s well worth the money for the audio tour. I like that you go at your own pace and it picks up automatically when you walk by the points of interest. My kids listened to it through my phone speaker and learned a lot.
-- DBoz2525, 2026-07-20

### ***** "Great self guided tour"
A great option for a self guided, self paced tour of many important Boston monuments
-- Boston Freedom Trail Tour, 2026-06-19

### ***** "Highly recommend!"
My sister and our husbands took a trip to Boston and wanted to walk the freedom trail at out own pace. This guide was WONDERFUL! The map was intuitive and knew when we were passing a landmark on the trail and would just start talking. Very informative and WAY cheaper than paying for a group guide. I definitely recommend if you’re wanting to walk the trail!
-- Jaylynn Reid, 2026-03-16

### ***** "Best way to see the Freedom Trail at your own pace!"
We loved doing the self-guided walking tour of the Freedom Trail. It was the perfect way to explore Boston’s historic sites without feeling rushed by a large group. The self-guided map was very easy to follow, taking us through all the major Revolutionary War landmarks like the Paul Revere House and the USS Constitution. Being able to stop for photos whenever we wanted made it a much better experience than a formal tour. If you're looking for an affordable Boston tour that hits all the Freedom Trail highlights, definitely go the self-guided route!
-- Caroline Amaral7, 2026-02-15

### **--- "Needs work"
It's a very clunky app
-- MaryFFFred, 2025-10-05

### *---- "Not Free"
You have to buy the tour to be able to access the map or any information
-- Issue with the app, 2025-08-11

### ***** "Excellent Guide"
Works very well! Can’t recommend enough!!
-- MarsE03, 2025-07-23

### ***** "Very smooth"
My mother and I were looking for something new to do, so we decided to walk The Freedom Trail. I absolutely loved using this app. It was seamless, informative, and operated perfectly. We both very much enjoyed listening to the narrator, and pairing the app with a beautifully sunny day in Boston!
-- Happy Wife 86, 2025-05-08

### **--- "Almost no content, waste of $$"
After every stop we looked at each other and said “that’s it?” This app has a great idea but delivers almost no content and information while doing the Freedom Trail. I was expecting more history and info than 2 sentences. We had lots of time between stops that the app could have added way more details about where we were. Wasted opportunity. Such a disappointment and it was not cheap. Find an alternative.
