BEFORE STARTING YOUR SENSOR

Before you start your Sensor, choose which device you would like to use.

Alarms and glucose readings can only be received on your phone or your FreeStyle Libre 2 Reader (cannot be both). [3]

To receive alarms and glucose readings on your phone, you must start the Sensor with the FreeStyle Libre 2 app.

To receive alarms and glucose readings on your FreeStyle Libre 2 Reader, you must start the Sensor with your Reader.

Note that the FreeStyle Libre 2 app and Reader do not share data with each other. For complete information on a device, scan your Sensor every 8 hours with that device; otherwise, your reports will not include all your data. You can upload and view data from all of your devices on LibreView.com.

Bare bones app

BC_Emma on

This app does what it says—tell you your blood glucose levels in real time—and very little else. You *can* turn off the alarms; other reviews claim you can’t, so the developers must have addressed that. Also, my pharmacist told me it needs 24 hours to warm up before it will give accurate readings, so that might explain why some people are getting weird readings (they should put this on the packaging). But all the other issues remain: 1. No syncing with any other app, including Apple Health, and no export. 2. No access to detailed history, just a vague line on a graph going back only a few hours that you can’t zoom in to or check actual data points on (and the y-axis doesn’t scale based on your actual readings, so if your readings are within a narrow range, the line looks almost flat). 3. You can log data points, but you have to do each one manually, so you can’t access information about your levels during sleep or a workout, for example. This really is just completely bonkers, since the app is clearly storing the data, you just can’t see it. If you had a low glucose event during the night, for example, you can’t find out how low. 4. To log a reading, you have to stick your phone right up to the sensor, even though it’s clearly getting signal without doing that. 5. You can’t set your own default units or toggle between units. This is frustrating since most online info uses American units. Since I’m only allowed to see my data in Canadian units, I have to keep a conversion chart on my phone. 6. There are separate apps for US and Canada, available only in their respective app stores, that only work with the device in your country. My Apple account is US-based, but I live in Canada. This is rarely an issue because most apps are available in both countries, and you set your country within the app. I had to find an old iPhone and set up a new Apple Canada account just to run this app, and now I have to carry a second phone everywhere. 7. The device battery actually lasts much longer than 14 days, but it’s software-locked to 14 days for revenue purposes, which is yucky and wasteful.

Sa manque de sérieux a cette entreprise

Nanuk .Bear on

Lynda Ouellet on

Signal Loss All the Time

3BBM on

Totally useless, signal loss all the time. Always scan errors….

Doesn’t work on iPhone 8

— Stan — on

Abbott’s compatibility with iPhone 8 is a total disaster! With iPhone’s latest system 16.7.8 Freestyle no longer works with my phone. Abbott told me there must be something wrong with my phone, so I took it into Apple repair service to check it out. They spend an hour doing a complete system check on my phone, but the phone checked out fine. They said the problem was the buggy Freestyle 2 program. Freestyle’s latest version 2.11.2 is absolutely useless. Abbott says it could be weeks or months, if ever, before they come up with a version of the program that works!

Mediocre

J0ker7788 on

I’ve only been using the app for less than a week but it has not been the most reliable in regards to maintaining connection. With my phone less than 3’ away it will lose signal. Also it is disappointing that it doesn’t work with my Apple Watch or through the Apple health app. It’s unfortunate that this is the only app that can connect to the sensor as I believe this system has a lot of potential and with a few tweaks be much more user friendly.

New scam

Jerrytoor on

The app no longer communicates with the sensor upon software update.

Keeps disconnecting from the sensor

MyNick2763918 on

At the price you are charging for the sensors, I expect nothing less than excellence. I’ve had two sensors recently that continuously lost the connection with the app, requiring me to scan the sensor multiple times in the course of a few hours. Not impressed.

Deleted ac

Azahiranzar on

I bought this for my dad and my daughter had the phone and she deleted the account and didn’t even use it once and when I try to scan it says another device is using it , unbelievable … don’t recommend it

UPDATE!!

NPickles88 on

App has not consistently connected to my sensor in about a week. Now I have a brand new one on that won't connect. Libre 2's have been nothing but problems since I was forced to switch because 1's were no longer available. Super amazing to spend $100 every 2 weeks on something that does not work, to keep tabs on something that my life literally depends on.
