## FreeStyle LibreLink – NZ Description
The FreeStyle LibreLink app is approved for use with FreeStyle Libre and FreeStyle Libre 2 system sensors. You can check your glucose by scanning your sensor with your phone. Now FreeStyle Libre 2 system sensor users can get automatic glucose readings in the FreeStyle LibreLink app, updated every minute, and also receive alarms when your glucose is low or high. [1][2]

You can use the FreeStyle LibreLink app to:

* View your current glucose reading, trend arrow and glucose history
* Receive low or high glucose alarms with FreeStyle Libre 2 system sensors [2]
* Add notes to track your food, insulin use and exercise
* See reports, such as Time in Range and Daily Patterns
* Share your data with your doctor and family, with your permission [3]

SMARTPHONE COMPATIBILITY
Compatibility may vary between phones and operating systems. Learn more about compatible phones at

USING YOUR APP AND READER WITH THE SAME SENSOR
Alarms can only be issued on your FreeStyle Libre 2 reader or your phone (not both). To receive alarms on your phone, you must start the sensor with the app. To receive alarms on your FreeStyle Libre 2 reader, you must start the sensor with your reader. Once the sensor has been started with the reader, you can also scan that sensor with your phone.

Remember that the app and reader do not share data with each other. For complete information on a device, scan your sensor every eight hours with that device; otherwise, your reports will not include all your data. You can upload and view data from all of your devices on LibreView.com.

APP INFORMATION

[1] If you are using the FreeStyle LibreLink app, you must also have access to a blood glucose monitoring system, as the app does not provide one.

[2] Alarms that you receive do not include your glucose reading, so you must scan your sensor to check your glucose.

## FreeStyle LibreLink – NZ Reviews in New Zealand

### ****- "Well it works"
Could be better it lags at times would be nice if the was a way to add widgets to the Lock Screen. Or even better would be good to have a way of being compatible with brands of insulin pumps to create a ai improving closed loop system
-- cloneyonuda, 2025-01-11

### ***** "Good"
Love it but hate that when I go low my alarm alarm doesn’t go off
-- Samthemanforlyf, 2024-12-18

### **--- "Does its job but lacking features"
It lacks an export of its data, which means that without screenshots one can only give anecdotal accounts of what happens after an event (injections, eating, overnight dawn effect, etc.), which thereby makes it no better that finger pricking (which never bothered me) but at a considerably greater expense. - It lacks connectivity with Apple Health. - Developers thank people for comments and say they will look into features request by many 1-2-3 years later, feature still missing.
-- Gwrachen, 2024-11-12

### ***-- "Good but too basic!"
As said by nearly everyone else functional but super basic. All the features suggested by Charles the dino AND PLEASE add a couple of widgets so your BG can be viewed on the Lock Screen, desktop and also the Dynamic Island.
-- SayHi2Steve, 2024-10-06

### *---- "NFC reader has broken"
Daughters iPhone8plus now doesn’t work after the update.
-- MindYourOwnBeeswaccs, 2024-10-01

### ***-- "It’s quite basic"
Obviously works with the glucose monitor
But very few visualisation options
No ability to scroll through timeline
No integration with Apple Health
Meh
-- DamianNZ, 2024-08-21

### **--- "A bit unreliable"
Good when it works but not when it doesn’t. There’s a reason why this is the cheapest system available.
-- lasoniss, 2024-06-15

### ***** "My fingers thank you"
I am loving this, my fingers got very painful when touched by a lancet now so having the CGM is a lifesaver!
I have a suggestion though, it would be helpful to be able to log water and other liquids that may be affecting my sugar levels (we know drinking water helps lower sugars).

Thank you
-- Vulcan79, 2024-04-01

### ***-- "Ok could be better."
Would be better to have a lock screen widget for iphone and iwatch so you didn’t have to unlock your phone and open the app just to see the levels.
-- fuscam, 2023-11-11

### **--- "Please bring back daily ‘time in range’!"
Still super helpful. But the newest one has removed the daily time in range. For me this is a massive flaw
-- Bring back!99848, 2023-10-14

### ***-- "Basic functions works but.."
Would be better if firstly, users could sync and integrate the readings with Apple health. Secondly, to have widgets for visibility on what’s the latest reading and days left on the CGM. Lastly, some kind of gentle reminder to get (and save the latest reading). Often I have gaps on data from the sensor because the sensor seem to only be able to remember a certain number of hours of data.
-- terribleappupdateexperience, 2023-10-11

### ****- "Excellent"
It’s an excellent app. Overall Freestyle Libre sensor has liberated me!
I have been using this for last 8 years now.
Since the upgrade of the app it is more convenient (no need to scan anymore).
Only thing we would really really appreciate if the app is available for Apple Watch as well. Thanks
-- Asifnz, 2023-10-02

### **--- "Automatic glucose readings not working"
Freestyle Libre 2 Automatic glucose readings not working on iphone 11 pro.
What could be the issue?
Latest app downloaded as well as running latest apple software.
-- kdp1001, 2023-09-29

### ****- "Pretty good but could be great"
This app is pretty good but would be awesome if we could give more feedback to dev team on what would be helpful. Eg would love a widget for apple phones, and to link data to health app. Also functionality to allow for overrides when sensor is out (ie BGL is 7.3 but sensor is alarming low). I’ve had to turn off alarms at night because sensor if faulty but app doesn’t allow for temporary turn offs or overrides/corrections etc.
-- booklovernz, 2023-09-20

### **--- "Scanning problems"
I’m having issues when scanning the sensor. I am receiving multiple scan error messages at least 50% of the times I scan. Very frustrating, so much so that with the cost, I have investigated other blood sugar monitoring systems. The NZ team are not helpful!
I have found the Libre2 system a lot less reliable and user friendly than the old, and having to constantly recharge the reader is a pain.
-- Bernard NZ, 2023-09-19

### ****- "Good but sometimes inaccurate"
Hi I’m writing this review as a user of the libre 2 for about 6 months. Don’t get me wrong they have been really great at helping me with control of my blood sugars but sometimes they can be about 3 or 4mml out than what it is on a meter. I’m happy with my libre overall but I’d love to see some app improvements like maybe a widget for Home Screen or Lock Screen for iPhone users where you can see your last reading with out having to physically go into the app or something like that. Thank you :)
-- Ghostgirl97, 2023-05-08

### ***-- "Good but lacking features"
It works well enough and the new Bluetooth alarms have helped my control a lot better. That being said this app needs a few more features to not make it feel subpar to competing sensors and third party apps. These missing features include: - Integrating with apple health - Having an Apple Watch compatible app (with scanning capabilities?) - and most importantly, using the new Bluetooth connection to periodically send the sensor readings themself! There are third party apps out there which can read the sensor data via Bluetooth why can’t the official app do it?
-- CharlesTheDino, 2023-03-30

### **--- "Scanner Issues"
Has scanner issues which require multiple scans. Just started using Libre2 and after scanning issues app now fails to even acknowledge a sensor is present. Looks like poor testing of the interaction of the app with Libre 2. When it works the data is great to see.
-- smokeyrot, 2023-03-13

### ***-- "Useful app"
Useful app, would be great if had quicker access with a widget from the lock screen and home screen.
-- Rach3l#*, 2023-02-19

### *---- "Often have to scan twice for it to work"
Edited 19FEB2023.

Now dropped to one star as this scanning issue is getting worse. 90% of the time the scan doesn’t work and often having to scan 3, maybe 4 times to get a reading.

If the scanning worked, I world certainly give more stars but this too much of a fundamental issue.

Previous review below:

While I appreciate the ease of the device to check blood sugar, you’ll more often than not scan your sensor with your phone and wait, and wait. The app then doesn’t do anything and you need to rescan a second time. It happens almost every time. The money I need to find each week for these devices means I expect it to work flawlessly for its most basic of features, such as scanning.
