FutureCard Reviews

Best Card for MTA / OMNY System in NYC!

c.ri.stian on

I saw that they were offering a limited time promotion via Instagram ads, it was for a free week of subway rides. It was pretty simple and straightforward, and it worked! I signed up, loaded $34 onto it via my debit card, and set my Express Transit card to Future Card. They reimbursed me for all my rides (it shows up as “100% cashback” next to each transaction), and once I hit my fare cap they added $5.00 to my account (also one thing they advertise about their card)! Now I have $39 to use for next week, and this will be default Express Transit card moving forward. I’m a happy customer! Def recommending to friends.

Love this and can’t wait to see where it goes

I love the concept of the app and as someone who cares about both sustainability and saving money, this app is perfect. I use the subway everyday and thrift most of the things I buy, I can’t wait to use this in every aspect of my daily life! I also love that it promotes sustainable habits and awareness and fully support it as it grows.

Great cash back

Michael Harren on

United States

I absolutely love this card. I get so much money back from my subway rides every month with the 10% cash back and the weekly $5 bonuses for hitting 12 rides. I switched to Arcadia for solar which saves me on my electricity every month AND I get 10% back on my electric bill. There are a couple of things that feel clumsy about the card, like having to e-mail in my electric bill every month, but overall it’s a really cool card that also earns interest?!?!? There are some random specials that show up here and there, like $10 off at PLNT Burger in NYC. I love that they aren’t shy about acknowledging that eating vegan is incredibly friendly to the environment. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the design of the card! 🔥

Need better rewards

I just signed up and I love the idea, just wish they had better rewards. Most of the rewards are for things that’ll take a long time to get, like an iPhone or MacBook, electric bike, etc. The only thing I’d MAYBE use would be the stasher food storage kit, but I don’t think the hassle of having to send in my monthly electric bill is worth it. Please add things like gift cards or cash out options

Great eco-friendly debit card account and app

ErkMetz on

I've used Future Card for almost a year and while it is not my primary place to keep funds, I enjoy the perks that promote environmentally friendly spending. I keep $500-1000 in the account at all times earning 2.72% interest. I have it as an option in my Apple Wallet as a Visa card to spend at Costco, where my other MasterCard options are not accepted. It is my spending account for -Arcadia Power for one of my electric bills -Grove Collaborative for no-plastic or plastic-neutral household supplies By focussing 5% Rewards purchases, I have gotten about $107 back in rewards over 11 months. Since this is a debit card with a "real" checking account behind it, someone who wants to use Future for the primary checking could order checks that would be perfectly fine to use with it. (Checks.com is very economical for check orders.) Unlike many other financial institutions, using Future works primarily from your App on smartphone or tablet, NOT from a website interface. So, it's a little hard to read the monthly statement on a small screen.

NYC Game Changer

I’ve been on here a little over a month. And I use transit twice a day 5 times a week. I’ve got about $12 in cash back savings that I’ve applied for a nice boost for transit funds or anything. The perks are cool and I recommend to anyone. Living in this city every penny counts.

Why would you pay utilities any other way?

5% instant cashback the second I pay my ConEd bill? And two free lunches at the PLNT Burger a block from my office? And 2.72% APY on a checking account? An NYC must at this point, honestly, unless you hate money. Oh, and good for the planet, bonus.

Doesn’t always work

181Paskal on

I’ve tried a few times to tap on the MTA and it doesn’t work. And I end up having to use another card. When you are in a busy subway station that’s not what you want. When I was working at the start I would often get a bug that showed double transaction fees that would stay on my activity for a long while. I reach out to customer service and nothing happened.

Best bank for me

Phanszoo on

I’m very picky and hard to please, and when I tell you I’m in love with my bank I mean it. The app is easy to use with no hassle, decent cash back and great deals like free one week travel for NY train users and more. Never thought I would stay with them because I had so many options and so many banks currently but they have been my main bank for a while now. Thank you future ☺️❤️
