I downloaded this app for use primarily in Europe and Africa. It seems that coverage of large chunks of Europe, and all of Africa, is missing. Am I missing something (user error is a terrible thing)!? Looks like it would be really good, if only it covered the areas I need…
If they added OS 1:25k maps to this app it would beat everything else available. However, I get the feeling that the US market is so big in comparison to the rest of the World, that we kind of play second fiddle because of that. I have been a subscriber for years, but the latest price hike is too high to justify the maps we have in the UK. Without access to OS maps, it’s just too expensive I’m afraid.
Disgusting having to log in now… Had re update the ipad and now it won’t let me use in stand alone mode. Why is it now 20x more expensive. Greed will destroy your app. Especially the fact Chris made this popular. Deleted until the green policy ends. Where is my lifetime membership previously discussed with Robin?
Every time I try make an account it says invalid email and something about an outside email. Very frustrating
The colour choices are too dark to be comfortably readable.
Very good for plotting routes prior to hiking/walking but unfortunately I find that, when i’m out walking, it constantly jumps my location to a point a few hundred yards away then jumps me back. I have tried it at the same time as another track recorder and that one worked fine, so it wasn’t a problem with GPS signal strength. I supposedly walked 5.6 miles when I actually walked 4. Really a shame it is inaccurate as I certainly couldn’t risk paying a subscription for something I can’t rely on.
I’m just getting to know this app and so far I love it. It’s intuitive and it looks good. Yesterday on the hills at Strathyre I had no signal the whole day, but my location was accurate on the app each time I checked it.
Been using this app for three years now. Took me as far as Argentina. And perfect companion in for U.K. hiking. thank you guys
If they added OS 1:25k maps to this app it would beat everything else available. It’s perfectly understandable to prioritise your biggest market, but I don’t think adding OS maps would be a big deal - it could be an optional extra subscription. I pay for OS maps already in their own app, so I would switch that subscription to Gaia if I could as the navigation features are so much better. The new weather details are cool and everything, but in the UK, a lot of us use a weird combo of imperial units for distance and metric for temperature. We can’t change the weather units without changing the units for the app globally, so that makes it kind of useless for me.
No indication of direction to head in other than junction turn indicators. Most detailed map zoom isn’t very detailed compared to other Apple Watch apps. All the less detailed zoom levels are impractical to use. The app refused to end workout, ignoring button presses, with the result it wasn’t recorded.
