Benny Greb, well known for his contributions to the drumming education community, shared the approach he has taken to develop his sense of groove and improve his timing on his instrument in his course "The Art and Science of Groove." Now with the Gap Click app, everyone can practice his method easily using this intuitive app!

Unlike standard metronomes, which only provide time, Gap Click helps you improve your sense of time. Gap Click is more than a metronome that focuses on improving your ability to keep tempo, become more aware and comfortable with off-beat clicks, and become bulletproof and accurate with all notes of the subdivision.

GAP CLICK
By scrolling through the numbers of bars and patterns, you can quickly configure a "gap" of time in which the metronome drops out. When the "one" comes back around, will your playing still be in time? How long of a gap can you play through and still maintain a solid tempo?

MOVING CLICK
Next, you can experiment with all kinds of off-beat patterns in the Gap Bar, which moves the click from the downbeat position to a different location. Can you still play your instrument and maintain the downbeat internally even when you hear the click sound on an off-beat?

Both the "click" and the "gap" portion supports various syncopated patterns, allowing you to practice in binary or ternary rhythms - with more or less safety depending on your settings.

best metronome app!

I’ve tried every metronome app available and can confirm this to be the best. would be great to see setlist / save functionality that others have, but that’s not a huge issue. only negative is the app icon - looks like a jazzed-up Google logo. otherwise perfect.

Please add fully customisable time signatures

Not being able to input any time signature, (to practise 5/8, 6/8 or 7/8) is my only issue with this otherwise game changing app Please add a function to input any time signature!

Great app, missing one thing...

Please add support for iPad screen sizes and multi window!

Great gap click app. Simple and effective with a great design. Would love to see an update which includes the ability to enable a count in and a timer. Also the option for landscape view would be nice... I use the metronome app “tempo” a lot that incorporates those features. It’s the only thing stopping me from making this my number 1 go to click. Please add, then this would be perfect;)

Brilliant app. At last a Metronome app that works with voice-over! I am a blind person and have tried so many Metronome apps that just don’t work with Apple a voice-over. This one is just great

Ok, it’s time to rethink what a metronome can do!!

This metronome is more than just a click track. It will put the control of time keeping back in your hands. If your a drummer, guitarist, bassist, trombonist or any musician looking to have a strong sense of time and feel then I recommend buying this app. Gone are the days of programming gap clicks or getting friends to mute and unmute metronomes for you. This app does it for you! Its so simple to use just pick your time signature, bpm, how many bars of click you want and what subdivision you want those bars to be. Then pick how many gap click bars you want. If you fancy a challenge you can have 8 clickless bars!! Or if you want to get used to the uncomfortable off beat rhythms like the first 16th or last 16th then you can set the bars to go back and forth between different subdivisions. Making it simple to improve/train your awareness of time. What I love about this metronome is that it helps you be the confident time keeper not the metronome. If your serious about Time & Groove purchase this app.

Best metronome for drummers

This metronome is the most useful app I have on my phone, well worth the price and a must have for any drummer looking to improve their awareness of time (which should be all of us)
