GarageMax opens your garage using your iPhone.
The App requires purchase of a low cost GarageMax Receiver. You can buy the receiver from BlueMate.com. The receiver installs in minutes with only two wires to connect.
Even if someone else has the GarageMax App, they will not be able to open your garage without your permission. GarageMax now uses Bluetooth 4.0/5.0 which is the most secure consumer-based wireless protocol. You can also add several layers of password protection.
Compatible with Genie, Liftmaster, Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, Raynor, Wayne-Dalton, Axis Cam, AccessMaster, Somfy, and nearly all garage door openers built in the last 50 years that use a simple wall switch. Note that newer Liftmaster/Chamberlains/Craftsman that have a yellow learn button will only work with Chamberlain accessories and are not compatible with GarageMax. Please visit our compatibility page for more details.
Thank you for choosing GarageMax.

I love it, so I bought a 2nd receiver for my other garage door
Really easy to install the receiver, only takes a few minutes. Same with setting up the app. I haven’t fully tested the range yet, but it works easily from the end of my driveway.
Since most of my cars are Homelink capable, I don’t need it most of the time, but one of my cars isn’t so I won’t need to carry the remote in it anymore. I also won’t need to remember to grab the remote out of my car if someone picks me up to give me a ride. And I can give access to friends and family if I need to.
I evaluated the other Bluetooth-style garage door apps. This one seemed to be the best available option, as it supports up to 8 devices paired to one receiver. I’m happy with my purchase.
It’s just so so
Doesn’t work all the time. It’s really finicky. You have to be right on it when it does work. Simple to install but expensive. I use it but I’m looking for something more reliable.
Apple watch
Garage mate has disappears from my apple watch. Apple store shows purchased, but cannot download. Can download Version 18, but does not work on apple watch.
GarageMate
These people are very helpful. Always answers questions.
I have three and they work great.
Jerry
Bought my fist Garagemate about five years ago and it’s still fantastic.I am going to order one for my granddaughter’s garage for her new car. They’re easy to to install and work great!
Replace Your Garage Door Opener With GarageMate
Tired of replacing batteries? Got more cars than openers? Have multiple garage doors with different openers? Don’t want want a perma-dent on your visor? If you said yes to any of these, then this gadget is for you. I installed one in 10 minutes with no tools. Then, GarageMate did exactly what it was supposed to do: let me open and close my garage door from my iPhone.
GarageMate
IOS APP and iWatch APPs are just what I’ve been waiting for. Best is I don’t need to take my iPhone along when I head out for my daily workout. The iWatch app works great as well.
I had a minor problem wiring to the (wrong) terminals on the opener. Five minutes on the phone which support and I was up and running.
Great App!
First of all, I like that you don’t need a subscription, it’s Bluetooth. That said, you cannot operate it remotely, but I’ve never needed that anyway. I have had the Garage Mate receiver for a year now and it is really meeting my needs. In fact I love it. Works almost perfect. The support line always answered immediately and always resolved my problem. Only have called twice in the year. My last call was resolved by restarting my Apple Watch, and yes there is an app for the watch too. So nice to walk out the garage door and press the button on my watch.
Works pretty good but could be much better
Because I live in an apartment with detached garages this works great for me. Would be nice if there were more features. Integration with HomeKit, siri, ifttt. Any of these would make it much more useful for me. Especially when I’m on my motorcycle.
Apple Watch 3 to 6
I have had this since March and it has worked perfectly. Easily connected to a 20-year-old Craftsman door opener. It works better than my original remote and I have been able to temporarily add the app to a contractor’s phone so they they can access the garage when I’m not home. Also, our niece can get into the house to do her laundry. No longer have to buy extra keys.
I’m only writing now because I’m lazy! You can get an app for GarageMate on Apple Watch which I did and it was fantastic, but quit when I upgraded my series 3 to series 6. Well, I contacted BlueMate tonight and they got back to me within two hours. Solved my problem. (Thanks Lou!) And it’s Sunday! (Lou, take a break.)
If you’re having the same problem with your Apple Watch, here’s what Lou sent me:
We can definitely get it working with your Series6 watch. Sometimes the iPhone gets in a confused state when you change watches.
Your Watch has a App Store App. Launch it directly on your watch and then use scribble pad to find GarageMate. You should then be able to install it assuming you have entered your App store credentials on the watch.
That should do it. Let us know if you have any trouble.
