I really love Pilot for inflight ipad - avionics synconisation and Iridium data display. Also Database concierge for G1000Nxi is lovely. But i still must use paralelly Foreflight to analyze weather, clouds distribution, icing and winds (also in vertical profile). I cant wait to see thoses features in Garmin Pilot. Br BogdanS
The weather imagery needs a major overhaul. With all the imagery available from the national weather service, the storm prediction center and the aviation weather center they give you just a small amount to make no decision whatsoever. They also include other countries that aren’t needed when flying in the US. The pilot should only have or need the countries that they are resident in and able to download the other countries if needed. The competition has much better imagery, and I use it instead of Garmin pilots.
The latest update works so great on iPad, it’s a breeze to file an IFR flight plan, get your flight briefings. Way to go Garmin!
I’ve used Garmin pilot since it came out! If you like garmin equipment you’ll love this app. They are constantly adding new features and interfaces.
This app has an insidious error related to database concierge. It will tell you that all downloads are downloaded and ready for install, even though they are weeks out of date. You MUST manually refresh the downloads screen to know whether there are additional downloads for your panel.
If there are tutorials, it is not yet clear where they are. This would be a good user feature to offer. E.g. an intro course to Garmin Pilot.
