He doesn’t send me the code to start or call me
I had previously posted a lengthy review complaining about this app. I moved into an apartment two days ago that used this app with no clicker. Many people have complained about the lack of a one touch button and Apple Watch compatibility. So now I’m going to post a lengthy review that hopefully will help the next new user avoid some frustration. I finally found a one tap button, but it is NOT obvious and it is NOT spelled out in the app. The developers should add the following to their FAQ. Here is what worked for me. (1) Follow the steps in the app to enable the shortcut. That means click the three line menu in the top left corner, click Siri Shortcuts, and add the gate(s) you want to access. (2) Now open the shortcuts app on your phone. Looking at all your shortcuts, click the three dots in the top right corner of the Open gate shortcut, or whatever yours says. AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN, CLICK THE i INFO BUTTON. (3) That should now show the details tab. Toggle Show on Apple Watch to ON if you want the shortcut on your Apple Watch. By clicking ADD TO HOMESCREEN, that will give you a TRUE one tap shortcut button. You can customize the button to look how you want before clicking add. In addition to that, once you’ve followed the above steps (A) if your iPhone has an action button, you can have the action button run that shortcut and (B) if you have an Apple Watch, you can edit your watch face so that one of the complications is the gate shortcut- the watch makes you click run first though. Now the main complaint I had was that I ride a motorcycle and it’s very inconvenient to have to park and take off my gloves once I get to the gate, then go through the process. Now that I’ve figured out how to get the shortcut to actually work, I created an automation so that once I arrive at the front of my apartment community, it opens the gate automatically. What worked for me was, (1) open Shortcuts app and click Automation then the plus + sign in the top right to create a new automation, (2) then click Arrive-choose (type the address of the leasing office or wherever the gate is located, not necessarily your apartment number)-Done-make sure Anytime and Run Immediately is checked (3) click next then scroll through your shortcuts and tap the one you want (Open Gate, etc). That’s it! So because of the features I was able to fiddle around with and make the app more useful for me, I change my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. I’ll give it 5 stars when the app c
My apartment uses this for gate access to get into the property. I have to use the Siri shortcut to get through gates but half the time it doesn’t work right or if you are on a phone call Siri Shortcuts aren’t available and I end up having to dig my phone out of my pocket to push the button. If there was an apple carplay app that could allow me to choose which gate to open instead of Siri Shortcuts or digging to find my phone this would be helpful!
What happens if my phone battery is dead? I’m locked out. What about if my phone is broken? I’m locked out. What if I forgot my phone? I’m locked out . What if my phone is stolen? I’m locked out. My entire ability to go home now depends on my phone, my phone service, and an app all working correctly. What could go wrong?
My apartment complex has been using Gatewise for less than a week and two different gates have already been down. I heard a neighbor had to get a hotel room because they couldn’t get access to the community. They also provide little to no support/training to the apartment managers because trying to add a phone number for a child who is under 18 but not on the lease has been near impossible! If any property managers are considering using this service at your community, I would highly recommend you don’t unless you just want upset tenants!!
It would be nice and safer if the app could be pulled up on Apple car play. Sometimes Siri can’t understand my southern drawl.
Please for the love of god have an option for dark mode
App is great and this beats clickers any day!
This has been the 4th time it hasn’t worked when going home. And when it’s late at night, their support isn’t working and then they tell you to contact property management after hours… they aren’t working either. App needs to be more reliable - too many errors, issues, and too many times not being able to open the gate.
