Extremely frustrating piece of software. Constantly facing issues - heating not turning on when it should and also turning on, when it shouldn’t? Batteries go low on a room sensor or radiator valve / loses connection to the hub - the system just turns all the heating on… costing a small fortune. Seems to be very few proper updates / support for the app. Needs to be a lot more reliable, as it is currently unpredictable and therefore unusable.

The hardware system works.  But too often the app (I have iOS) cannot contact the hub.  Whereas the web app can.  Indicating an issue with the app….. and the app is so sllloooowwwww!!!

Have three random overuses in last 24 hours since updated up never had this before

Since last update I haven’t log in everyone time and getting overides every day feel the company not interested in looking after its customers had the system now 10 years time to look for another system

I can’t log on as it keeps failing when I try to reset but to try and raise this as an issue they try and charge me £4.99. Basically get you on board, break the app then charge you for help. Keep your children away from them as they will most likely harvest their organs for profit.

Come on developer the core user experience and functionality is fine - but the basics are poor - for iphone - the home button rarely works - not sure if its waiting to process data or if its just not configured correctly - login in is painful and often throws up an error code or no internet connection. Its really poor and needs repairing - the system hardware seems to be fine - but its useless without the App. Logging in via the web application is not much better.

Going to switch the system now. For an iPhone user, the App is more than painful. From having to go through log in every time, to not being able to access navigation buttons, everything is painful and time consuming. The App has not evolved over the past 7 years. Fed up now and bite the bullet and invest in better tech. A shame as we thought to give a British start up a chance but they can‘t even be bothered to reply to customer feedback / questions. Not even worth one star.

I do not write reviews on apps, but when you spend a lot of money to get a heating system installed into your home… you’d think the app would be good or at least work.

1) For some reason it just logs you out of the system all the time (granted this is more an inconvenience but still should be a simple software update)

2) Fetching weather data, next to never works

3) Disconnecting from zone/thermostats. Then having to spend ages trying to get them reconnect 

4) This is meant to be a smart home system, yet very hard to integrate with any smart home software

5) Setting up zones and routines… patchy at best

I’ve installed a brand new heating system and was told Genuis hub was a brilliant company. So far really disappointed with the app and it’s reliability, compatibility and ease of use.

Only using it out of necessity not a want.

I give the Genius Hub 5 stars! It is an extremely powerful and flexible heating system that allows you to control each room independently and remotely, making it easy to save energy and money. The app is easy to use and provides comprehensive control over heating, as well as motion sensing to chart your habits and optimize the system. The Genius Hub also comes with support for Amazon Alexa, making it even more convenient to use. Overall, the Genius Hub is an excellent heating system that is well worth the money.

### ***-- "9 years on and…."
We were early adopters of heat genius tech back in 2013 and it is definitely by far and away the best, most comprehensive and most controllable smart heating system out there, even today. It allows you to control each room individually for each day of the week, setting different temperatures at different times of day according to how you use each space in your home. It can control wet and dry underfloor heating, hot water systems (if you have tanked hot water), and even has its own smart plug system which doubles as a signal boosting solution to make sure all your radiator valves have constant signal. 

BUT…..

The app is, unfortunately, even after all these years, fundamentally missing everything you would hope for out of an app in 2023 in terms of look and feel, simplicity, minimal clicks, feedback and general usability. 

You can’t set simple things like different profiles for different seasons and although you can override the heating controls at any time, you can’t set a temporary heating schedule if, for example, you have guests staying for a week or two, or are taking a staycation week off work or are working from home a few days this week, or are at home poorly, or have granny staying with you, or the kids are off school or, well…. anything.

Heat Genius’ solution? Make fake zones to hold the original settings so you can temporarily change the settings for each room then copy the original settings back when you’re finished. Really??? Well We have 8 zones in our home, so I now have an additional 8 zombie zones holding my spring/autumn settings and another one to store the original settings for any room I’m temporarily changing for guests etc. But I can’t even hide these zombie zones so they all show in the app all the time. It would be so simple to have nameable profile settings for each zone (I work with databases so I know how easy it is) but after 9 years of asking for this simple feature, no.

And it’s not just that. I could write a small book on all the simple things the system is capable of but the app can’t actually do. Don’t get me wrong, everything is controlable to the nth degree, even to the point of being able to set automatically adjusted pre-heat periods to account for variable outside temperatures, but while it’s very tech-friendly, it’s also very user-unfriendly. It feels like it’s been developed by people who are passionate about heating tech and everything that is possible to be done with modern heating systems, but have no idea at
