Mobile Reviews in United States ### *---- "I wish it worked" I hate ordering online. Would much rather shop but like to save a little time and see my total as I go. But this app is 100% useless. Routinely broken and they take forever to fix it. Currently app shuts down while fetching coupons. Wish it worked because when I can use it it’s awesome. But it works so rarely I don’t really bother anymore. -- Sofiellela, 2023-11-04 ### *---- "Practically broken, updates are useless." There are several issues with this app which makes it confusing and difficult to use. I’ve been reporting them to Giant corporate and my local store for over two years now and not one issue has been resolved. First, you need to make sure you use the right app. In PA you need to use the one with the RED logo. In MD and VA you need to use the one with the PURPLE logo. They don’t tell you this and if you use the wrong one it won’t work. They should combine them into one app, having multiple is too confusing. Next, app refuses to keep you logged in. It will appear as if you are logged in but the moment you try to review or add your coupons it will say you must sign in. When you sign in, the username and password boxes are coded as regular text boxes and as such you’re not able to use Apple’s password manager, or any third parties like Bitwarden, Lastpass, etc. You can’t even copy and paste because the fields don’t allow it! Once you suffer through the login process, you’ll be good for maybe 30 mins before it forgets you and makes you start all over again. Finally, if you got this far, you may be randomly audited when you go to check out and it will throw an error message but it won’t tell you what the issue is other then it requires cashier assistance. They won’t know what the issue is either, so they will clear the error and have you scan it again, only to have the same issue again. Even the store manager likely will be confused. You can’t even start over and scan the items manually because once you enter your bonus card/phone number it will recall the in progress scan it order and won’t let you continue. It wasn’t until I escalated to corporate to this get explained. Randomly you will get audited and when the error triggers, the employe needs to scan a special bar code to enter audit mode and then they will need to rescan half of your items. A complete waste of time! The store employees are not trained on how to do this, and will look at you funny when you try to explain to them how to do their job. If you’re lucky and complain enough to the manager, they will train the employees and then you should have a better shot at getting it completed. But the whole experience is so bad that I don’t even do it anymore. I’m sick of wasting time, holding up the line, and telling people how to their job just so I can check out. To be honest, this whole app and scan it experience should just be scrapped. No one uses it because of how inconvenient and confusing it -- Scott👨‍💻, 2023-10-09 ### *---- "App keeps crashing while in use" This app was a life-saver during the pandemic. I was able to quickly shop putting food in my own bags then quickly pay at self checkout. Since Jan 2023, this app repeatedly crashes during in-store shopping. I’ve stopped using it and now rely on the store provided scanning wand which is less than desirable. It still allows me to quickly use the self checkout, but requires me to touch a publicly shared device to shop. While others struggle with the unruly scales in the self-checkout lines, it takes me all of 10 seconds to get out of there. I simply scan my barcode, all of my items and discounts pop up on the screen, then I pay. I used the app over a year ago until they disabled it and said you needed to scan through the Giant app instead of scan it. I was on the phone multiple times. I even deleted my account and started over with a new card. It kept confusing it with the old card even though they told me at the Giant phone helpdesk that my old account had been deleted. A month ago the Giant scan stopped working - invalid account. I was told to delete and redownload. Now I see the scanit app is bCk again but it won’t recognize my id, password or card number. My store does not have this wireless SSID it only has giant_food that you can join. No one at the HelpDesk in the store new about the scanner app.The store manager didn’t know and even though he was on the store wireless giant_food his scan app worked on his phone. But my scan an app kept giving the message that I needed to be on the giant_food_guest network which was not an option in the store. I will get my online groceries from Safeway instead. I’ve been trying with Giant “tech” to fix my account over the past many months (when I could muster the effort) for from 10 minutes to literally an hour at a time. They are nice and try hard but it’s just one problem after another. This last time i was on the phone with them for at least an hour (no joke, and I took time off work for it) and they made some progress then hit a snag AGAIN. So then I told them to delete my account and just forget it! It’s the 21st century for crying out loud. Also the app is so laggy and the search was improved but still bad and very frustrating. Good luck to you if you try it. Me? Never again. Been going to my same neighborhood Giant for 30 years but NO MORE!!
