Description

Glacier Wildflowers presents 400 wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees readily found in the Glacier National Park region. High Country Apps is proud to team up with Shannon Kimball (curator at University of Montana Herbarium) as the app's botanist and the Glacier National Park Conservancy (www.glacierconservancy.org) as its conservation partner for the Glacier Wildflowers app. A portion of all proceeds go to benefit Glacier National Park Conservancy.
Designed for expert and beginner alike, this guide presents each species in a clear, informative format that provides photos and illustrations of the plant, an easily understood description, distinctive field marks, preferred habitats, and tidbits on the plant’s ecology and cultural use.
An innovative, easy-to-use key allows the user to select flower color, leaf type, and other characteristics to quickly identify unknown plants. You are on a hike, look down and see a flower with yellow petals and opposite leaves but don’t know its name. It could be tall and thorny, sticky with black berries, sweet-smelling with square stems. Just select what you do know on the app and all plants matching your description will be shown. Photographs and information used by the app are stored locally, making the app available to use with or without a data connection.
We hope this app increases your enthusiasm for the plants that give us all life and inspiration. Revel in the wildflowers and infect others with your love of the land.

Glacier Wildflowers Reviews

Love this app!

Whenever I go hiking, I love to take pictures of wildflowers and identify them later. This app allows me to select the petal color, flower shape, leaf shape, leaf arrangement, and more. It narrows down the possibilities with each characteristic you enter. Then - voila - you can see and read about your identified flower (or tree or shrub). There is a lot of helpful information for identifying flowers, and the app is clear and intuitive. I am delighted with it. And it's free and there are no ads! Thank you, High Country Apps!
