## GLICODE™ Description
GLICODE TM turns every packet of Pocky into a bite-sized coding lesson. By laying out Pocky in the right order, you can use Japan’s (and the world's) favourite snacks to learn algorithmic thinking in a fun and engaging way.

Take control of Glico's mascot HUG HUG as he makes his way around an imaginary world, trying to spread happiness. You will need to learn different coding functions to help him navigate a range of levels so he can make his way to a child in need of a smile.

[WHAT YOU CAN LEARN]
By arranging Pocky in different sequences you can learn three basic coding fundamentals:

・SEQUENCES
・LOOPS
・'IF' STATEMENTS


[EQUIPMENT REQUIRED]
1. "GLICODE" App
Download the "GLICODE" app from App Store.

2. Snacks
All you need to play "GLICODE" is a regular packet of Chocolate Pocky.
As the levels progress they will become harder to test you on what you've learnt. Remember to save a few extra Pocky for the difficult levels - you'll need them!

3. Placemat
For the best results make sure the snacks are placed on a plain white background.
Use a white placemat, paper or plate to lay your snacks out on.


[INSTRUCTIONS]
1. Line up your snacks.
Remember not to place them too close together.

2. Capture.
Use your phone’s camera to take a picture of your snack sequence from above. 

3. Test your sequence.
Hit the play button to see your code executed as HUG HUG moves through the course.

4. Eat your delicious code.
If you pass the level you can eat your delicious code and get ready for the next challenge.

*Be mindful of hygiene - we recommend you wash your hands before playing with your snacks.
*Please make sure your white placemat is clean.


[Adopted by school lesson program with MIC!]
In Japan "GLICODE" was adopted by "Popularization of Programming education for young segment" program supported by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2016. Elementary school teachers are using this app as a tool in the classroom to teach the basics of programming to early elementary school kids.


GLICODE TM is a free educational app that teaches children about the principles of coding - with Pocky!

The idea for this app is cool in my opinion, i used to love coding games when i was younger. but the way it is presented is clanky and hard to use…the camera mode is the main issue, it is very laggy and barely outlines the actual pocky stick and picks up every other line in the camera area.

This game is agony. I like pocky and decided to try this game out after seeing it on the side of the box…
But it’s just- 
The picture thing with the pocky just doesn’t work that good. You place the pocky in the down position, it registers it as an up command. It’s just…so frustrating! 
It’s a cool concept, but it was poorly executed.

This app would be cool if it worked, but it doesn’t, you have to arrange Pocky in real life and use your camera so it sees which way they’re facing and inputs it as the direction a little character moves, it’s cute, but it doesn’t recognize the Pocky and doesn’t input the code right no matter what I put the Pocky on or how much I change the lighting. Plus, I know it’s the company’s app and they want you to buy Pocky, but why do you have to use real Pocky? It’s just impractical. You could make it where there’s Pocky in the game and you arrange that to make code, but using real Pocky is just too much. It would be a great, cute app, and it has the right idea, but it doesn’t work.

This game was fine for the tutorial levels, but once you get to the levels that use more than 2 pocky, the scanner has a stroke and gives you literally every other combination of code it can think of that isn’t the code you put down. Seriously, it’s like the AI is mocking me. This wouldn’t be a problem if the game just let you input code manually, but because the developers are dead set on forcing you to buy pocky, this is not featured. I’m currently stuck on hard 5 because of this primitive trash and if it doesn’t input my code soon, I’m gonna delete this app which is sad because I liked this game until the scanner started committing die like Hal in 2001 a space odyssey.

This is a really cute concept of using pockys as code :D I really like the whole idea and the games is really cute, but my only complaint is that you need a lot of pockys…that and the scanner is kinda…. :/ meh. There’s only two things about this game that I don’t like one is that you HAVE TO have a white background to take a picture (I have a brown wooden table but I do have white placemats) and another is that sometimes it’s hard to take photos- like I had the white background and it was in the correct order but it wouldn’t take the picture.
