Description

Use GoCarma to get high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) toll discounts on Dallas-Fort Worth TEXpress Lanes during weekday peak periods (6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.).

HOW IT WORKS

To qualify for a 50% toll discount, make sure that there are at least 2 people in the vehicle with the GoCarma app on their phone. The app will activate automatically and use GPS and Bluetooth to verify your HOV status, even when the app is closed.

Before you depart, you may check your current status by tapping on the orange button on the home screen. Check back on the home screen later in the day to see confirmation that you qualified for the discount, or consult your toll bill.

TRAVEL WITH KIDS?

No problem, just send us a message. We'll send you an Occupant Pass that you can carry on board whenever you travel with kids in the car. This is a small and non-trackable Bluetooth tag that simply tells the GoCarma app that a 2nd person is in the vehicle.

WHERE IT WORKS

GoCarma is currently available in Dallas-Fort Worth only.

If you think your region would benefit from automated HOV toll discounts or rewards, please send us an email!

WE RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY

GoCarma uses your GPS only when you travel on an active corridor (e.g. TEXpress Lanes in Dallas-Fort Worth) and only during active time periods (e.g. weekday morning and evening peak periods). This data is only used to verify your HOV status, and this data expires after 60 days.

Your personal data is never shared with anyone.

You can learn more about how GoCarma respects your privacy in the app's Privacy screen, or just send us a message and our team in Dallas will be happy to help.

OUR DALLAS-FORT WORTH COMMUNITY

Each weekday, GoCarma enables tens of thousands of daily commuters in Dallas-Fort Worth to save on tolls. And by choosing to travel together instead of driving alone, our GoCarma community is helping to reduce traffic, local air pollution, and CO2 emissions.

Absurdly incredibly inefficient way of tracking HOV

Marcelo Redfield on

Having an app with permissions on all the time is unacceptable.

GoCarma is a joke

Redfishperson on

The claim is that GoCarma will allow you to get HOV discounts. But that's a joke, because they make it next to impossible to get things set up, even for people such as myself who are quite tech-savvy. Heaven forbid my grandparents try to set it up. The Occupant Passes are even more of a joke. Nowhere in the app is there even an option to set up the OP that I ordered and received for my child, as directed by the instructions that came with the device. This is completely absurd! Why would you deploy an utterly faulty product that your software doesn't even support? Why is your documentation not more straight forward? It's like GoCarma is doing lip service claiming to provide discounts, but they do everything in their power to make it next to impossible to actually GET the discount.

TX DoT must fire this company

thanhnc1985 on

I noticed a few times the system didn’t recognize HOV status in my car even though GoCarma app was turned ON in both phones. We usually have a quick ride on 365 TEXpress to get on 75 about 7 mins as my wife and I carpool to work. Now I guess this is how they try to make up for what they call “Cheat rate” LOL. Their customer service is prompt but unhelpful and rude. The worst I’ve ever experienced.

Look forward to that day that this system folds

Hyperhonda on

I wish this system would disappear. It’s so terrible in so many ways. But I’m sure too many people are making too much money on it due to its flaws (more tolls when the system isn’t working). Also, I’m sure politicians and business people are lining each others pockets to keep the system in place. 3 years layers, still having continuous trouble. What a joke.

GoKarma Phone to Phone & Bluetooth Devices Work Well!

JaredHylton on

They now have it where you don’t NEED to have the central Bluetooth device puck thing like you did a few years back; it’s ALL phone to phone now, unless you need a puck for the kiddos or a non-Smartphone’d driver so that they can be counted, but otherwise the new app works very well! Communications between Android devices and iPhones works well, and minus ONE dead puck I received at first, everything else has been perfect. I recommend this to ANYONE driving with multiple people in the car on any TEXpress Lanes or otherwise! Great people work for the app development company, and remember that they’re not the same company that takes your toll money. They just made the app!

DFW At It Again - Terrible Service

thewolfman2010 on

The fact that you now have to have a cellular device with Bluetooth to receive HOV discounts is absurd. The fact that you have to keep your location set to “always allow” is also concerning — EVEN if they aren’t using location data in a nefarious way. They want to say the change for this was because people were using HOV for non-eligible HOV rides. Well what about these “passenger” devices for children that remain in the car 24/7? I’m SURE parents aren’t removing this and are getting even MORE free HOV rides than before. How is this tracked and enforced? Replying to the dev: have you ever considered that the “cheat rates” are so high because of YOU people charging for these services as a middle man? Comical. Of course you’re going to defend a toll road.

Saves $$$

itza boogie on

Saves me money which is good. But always has to be on which is bad. Over all it does what it’s supposed to. Sometimes slow to sync but worth the download.

Location sharing always? Why?

sammpath on

Location sharing always? Why? Make it only when the app is open!

Terrible at detecting tags and other phones

icyhot7112 on

Not only does it seems to take 15-20 mins to find the passenger. It wants to gather location data when I don’t need the app.

Fraud! Does not work!

Shobhit J on

Ntta and GoCarma are running a fraud business. They make one excuse or other to not give discounts. Waste of time and money. They should be sued and shut down !
