GoodReader PDF Editor & Viewer

Published by: Good.iWare

Description

First released in 2009, GoodReader® is truly a veteran of the App Store.
In the modern app business, it's not easy to stay relevant that long. We're proud to say that after 13 years and counting, we've been delivering wonderful updates with extraordinary new features. And we're going to keep doing that!
GoodReader is a perfect combination of document-reading and file-managing capabilities. It's your one-stop shop for all your document needs on your iOS device.
Use the app once, and you'll be hooked. Soon you'll be wondering how you ever managed to work without it.
-= File Reading =-
PDF, TXT, MS Office, iWork, HTML, pictures, music & audio-books, videos. This is what you can view in GoodReader, plus you can also annotate PDF files and edit TXT files.
-= PDF Reading and Annotating =-
PDF files is where GoodReader truly shines. Reading experience is so superior, it's hard to describe. To rephrase one of our customers' review, "try it, and you'll see." While you're at it, give our PDF Reflow feature a try. You'll be surprised how much better PDF reading goes when you don't have to scroll left/right all the time, for every single line of text.
Annotating PDFs is another star feature of our app. Adding notes and drawings, highlighting text, and then sharing your annotated files or annotation summaries will be your main productivity and collaboration asset.
-= File Management =-
While reading files is a big part of GoodReader, it's not all it can do. It can also serve as a central hub for all your files, even those that can't be opened by GoodReader itself. It's like bringing your personal computer experience to your mobile device — easily managing huge collections of files and folders will make you forget you don't have your laptop around.
-= Connecting =-
Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, Box.com, WebDAV, SMB, AFP, FTP, SFTP — these are all accessible from inside GoodReader. Download, upload, and sync (*) individual files or huge folder collections.
-= Security =-
With GoodReader, your data security steps up to the level previously only dreamt of. With Pro Pack® (*), our new set of professional-level super-features, you'll get AES-256, a military-grade encryption, for all your data, at a price of a cup of coffee! And it's completely independent from the built-in Apple's Data Protection, so even if a hacker steals and unlocks your device, your data will still be protected by another strong layer of security, our own.
-= Split-Screen =-
This wonderful feature allows you to split (*) an iPad screen in half, to read two files side-by-side. And even two different parts of the same file!
(*): This feature requires a subscription to Pro Pack®, sold separately from inside the app as an in-app purchase.

Simply The Best

Tired of Adobe’s nonsense with .pdf docs? Then GoodReader is your go-to App. It is simple to use and offers a ton of useful tools for working with .pdf docs. The storage and retrieval functions are also blissfully easy to use.

update this was once the ‘go to’ app but suddenly it’s ceased to function, the ‘back to reading’ facility is in permanent lockdown and therefore inaccessible which renders the app useless - both the standard and Pro versions are now effectively defunct, spent three weeks trying to rescue gigabytes of data … whatever they’ve done to it has wrecked it : disaster Its always the same ... updating something that isn't broke just makes it more complicated and arcane ... maybe the geeks have to justify their salary but why can't they just leave a simple, straightforward, easy-to-use app alone ... needlessly opaque and all the useful stuff hidden away, just trying to copy something from a PDF is now rendered into some convoluted tapping around trying to find a non-highlighted copy method, oh gimme strength Update It’s getting better, annoying when opening an additional document it closes one previously on hold, frustrating

Does not work with connected cloud services

Pradeepw on

United Kingdom

My key requirement was the app itself being able to access a folder in one drive with saving of annotations and last read point on that folder itself. But this app requires you to download files and do syncs with local storage in the iPad - which beats the whole purpose of having cloud storage. It even doesn’t remember the last folder accessed on OneDrive for that matter - Waste of £5 paid for the app.

Indispensable

I couldn’t manage my iPad or iPhone without this amazing app. Everything - photos, music, books, PDFs, personal files of all descriptions - is stored in nested folders in a virtual filing cabinet of unlimited size and with unparalleled ease of use and access. Compared to Apple’s shambolic proprietorial storage system, it is like night and day. The sole gripe I have with Goodreader is the audio player not supporting gapless playback. This sent me searching for a similarly folder based app which I found in the form of MusicPlayer.

love this

I have been using this app for years and it is fantastic. v5 is just amazing! Well done devs!! Upgrading to pro version was a no brainer, even if for no other reason but to support this and future dev as i don’t think i will need the pro features (but you never know) . i love this app. Don’t hesitate to buy this, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent app

This is a really good app on which to manage your pdf files and downloads. It is flexible and easy to use to organise different items. The reading and annotating environment is comfortable.

Broken

Philip157 on

I’m a longtime use with this app, unfortunately it’s broken with the latest update. All I now see upon opening this app is a padlock.🔒

Rapid recovery

Killed by a bug and crashing on open, but resolved the same day. Great!

Serious error - promptly fixed

Larry000111 on

United Kingdom

Latest update has prevented Goodreader opening on ipad under OS 16.6.1. It crashes immediately. Data is only available if manually retrieved. This needs urgent attention! And it has been fixed! In about 4 hours… not too bad!
