I love this app for a number of reasons 
- wide variety of books, it’s also nice to see the trending books, and keeping updated on new releases of my favourite genres. 
- the strong, lively community on here — I’ve joined numerous book groups where there is always active discussion, events, giveaways, etc. the liveliness on here is also shown by the sheer amount of reviews and ratings by users that I can find on almost every book I want to read. 
- connecting with friends - keeping up with my friends’ current reads, their book wish lists. Very motivating for me to read 

However, even with all these amazing features, there is this one feature that would improve this app, which is linking with “Books” app on Apple, since it is where I read most of my books. So, it would be nice if there was a way to link the two apps such that the progress I make reading is automatically updated on Goodreads. 

And also, dark mode on mobile. Please. I use this app a lot at night in bed so it puts a lot of strain on my eyes.

I’ve been using Goodreads since 2021. And the last time I had access was in Aug 2022. Fast forward to Aug 2024, I signed in using the email I used in Goodreads and it directed me to “Finish Registration”. It made me create a new account. 

What happened to my original account? I just can’t access it anymore. With my new account using the email synced with my original account, I searched my original account in Goodreads and messaged it to hopefully send a notification in my email and may fortunately be a portal to reopen my original account but it said “the person is not accepting messages”. Damn goodreads, it was like trying to reach out for my past life. 

What did you do to my account?

I love Goodreads in and of itself, and it gets the job done so really, that’s what majorly matters.

However, it’s 2024 and I’ve been on both the app and the website for years and it’s really high time for major improvements. Other apps are obviously catching up but Goodreads still has me merely because it’s a hassle to migrate data, so I hope the Goodreads loyalists are rewarded with some app beautifications and modifications to go with the ever-changing landscape of the community.

1. We need a DNF shelf! And not one that users have to personally make for themselves because I badly despise having to see sentence caps on my Read, Want To Read, and Currently Reading, and then see my DNF as “did-not-finish”. I despise it as much as I despise mismatched book series covers.

2. Improvement on the rating system (and I don’t just mean adding the half increments to the stars). Something like rating systems for spice, humor, drama, horror, representation, language, trigger warnings, book tropes, and all the new lingo people are using on Booktok and Bookstagram nowadays that are actually quite helpful. Goodreads should really get on with the times.

3. Improvements on app and website look, interface, and speed. It looks the same as when I first joined and it’s actually very sad. It’s about time for our Goodreads glow-up, besties! Give us the virtual bookshelf and not the lists, pls.

All in all, again, still works as it’s supposed to but just really hope the overall feel of the app and website would be even more engaging and useful (i.e. not just about the reviews but actually providing relevant information and recommendations).

For some reason, I cannot log into my account (that was linked to my Facebook). It keeps saying the email doesn’t exist either. Customer support is not helpful at all. When I tried creating a new account using the app, it won’t let me sign in either, as there’s too much capacity.

### **--- "ISBN barcode scanner has erratic reliability"
What was once a useful tool in adding books to my library turned into one that’s annoying to use. The ISBN scanner isn’t that reliable now; it either gives the wrong results or none at all (despite the book I’m scanning has a clear and correct entry/record in Goodreads). I hope this gets to be fixed soon!
