I can’t review the Google assistant on my google speaker anywhere else, so I’ll review it here. Google Assistant has got dumb. Simple commands to control things around my house or answer questions are now “I don’t understand” or “you haven’t set up home control yet” even though a couple tries later it’ll suddenly work. I have 3 Google speakers. Two were free and one heavily discounted. Glad I didn’t pay full price, because I’m about to throw them all away.
Yes good to have Google assistant on apple device. But you can’t say hey Google. To get stuff done you need to still go in app then push on microphone button
Every time I ask for a sample no they don’t have it do how do o no what samples there are available
Assistant rocks
So we got YouTube music, and therefore had to switch to Google assistant to control it by voice. The quality of interpretations is really awful compared to Alexa. We listen to chill out music in the background day to day. A legit regular example is “ok google, play chilled supermix” ‘ok, playing rock hits’ 😖. “Ok google play chill out music” ‘ok, playing chilled supermix’ 🤷🏼♂️. It’s one example of so many frustrations with assistant. We know the tech can be great because Alexa and Siri smash it. Sort it out google!
Horrible app it diconnected my headphones with in two minutes
I am a foreign languages teacher and use a mix of three languages every day at work. I also use Siri all the time in the classroom to set timers, play music, ask random facts that add a bit of fun to lessons, however, Siri is not great for the polyglot as you can only use the language of your phone. This can only be one at a time unless you manually change and restart the system, which I could not do on a lesson by lesson basis! Soo what joy when I found out that the Google assistant would let you add two additional languages as well as your phone language. I gave up and will stick with Siri (and use English when using Siri) because 1. I cannot manage the calendars on iPhone 2. I cannot set a reminder on iPhone 3. I don’t use any google services so functionality is limited. The one plus was I could link Apple Music but that was it. Either Siri needs to be a better linguist or Google assistant needs to talk to my phone rather than the cloud. Ah well….
If I ask the assistant “what song is this?” the only reply I receive is “Sorry, I don’t have that information.” Nothing I try fixes this issue, and I have given the app all permissions.
