Doesn’t work with Google display anymore
It seems that Google decided to brick the Google display at the beginning of December 2024. You cannot link your account anymore therefore, the setup doesn’t proceed and you you’ve left with a formerly quite useful, but now useless e-waste. I find it interesting that Google made this business decision because it is not immediately apparent to me why these devices need to be disposed. After all, it has taken some effort to remove the functionality from the home app (on iOS at least) so that it will not connect to the device anymore. This was the first and last Google piece of hardware I bought and will ever buy – I can’t afford to purchase a device that functions a few years and then just fails without any way of reverting back to what used to be a perfectly functioning combo.
