Our story begins in 2006 when our founder, Jalal Abu-Gazaleh, was supplying top-tier 5-star hotels all over Cairo with premium meat and seafood. After introducing an unprecedented quality of Australian beef to the Egyptian market, it became clear there was a hunger for such products amongst the Cairo community. We made customer satisfaction the root of our mission to revolutionize the way people shop for their groceries, making it less of an errand and more of a joyful journey.

Located right off Maadi’s Ring Road, Gourmet Egypt opened its doors in 2008 where everyone could start shopping for all the delicious products curated from around the world that were simply unavailable in mainstream retail shops. Our portfolio ranged from Italian & French farmhouse cheeses to authentic pasta, condiments & Asian fusion.

After nearly 10 years of experience in premium food retail, Gourmet Egypt became synonymous with quality & excellence. When importing restrictions began in 2015, we knew that trouble was on the horizon. As a customer-centric business, our top priority is to maintain our long-established standards and ensure that our quality is not sacrificed.

The Handcrafted by Gourmet journey was then established with two production facilities equipped with talented, passionate chefs turning every household’s favourite recipe; from soups, salads, bakery and a wide range of convenient ready-to-cook and-eat meals. The portfolio grew to include fresh & frozen items, made with the finest local & imported ingredients.

Going local opened a whole new world for us. We are proud to say that we encourage local businesses and over the last years we have collaborated with many of them to produce an exclusive range of products. Now at Gourmet Egypt, our customers can shop and support high-quality local brands ranging from health & beauty to kitchenware and everything in between.

Location is a mess

I have 2 saved addresses, whenever I chose one and double check that I marked the correct address it changes it after processing! I had to cancel my order 3 times when delivering, it happened again today I had to call the call center twice to confirm that it will be delivered to the correct address, other applications just detects where you are without this hassle. Even though I DOUBLE checked it still confirmed to the wrong address!

No respect for delivery time

Waiting for an order for over 6 hours customer service just say they are sorry and they will hurry the order till now not recieved. will never pay online for this service and if they are late im not paying. No respect for people’s time.

Orders are never on time.

If you want your food in 4 hours, then yes order here. Dont waste your time for groceries, you can order off rabbit. Its a lot faster and their customer service is much better then gourmets. I dont know how an established brand could be so trash.

So late and inaccurate

3pm I ordered a cheese platter that said it takes 4 hours to prepare, I called 6pm they said it’s ready in the story and will be delivered 8pm max. I called again at 8pm they lied and said it’s inside the compound. it is now 9pm, 5 calls later and it’s still not there. My guests are about to leave. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I paid it online and seriously next time I’ll do COD and if they’re 1 minute late I won’t pay for the order. unbelievable. it doesn’t take 6 hours to deliver within new cairo and it definitely doesn’t take 6 hours to prepare a cheese plate

Bad application, bad delivery service

Delivery service is a disaster, an order takes more than three hours to deliver while other applications deliver within an hour and most probably less, the application is very bad ,slow and not effective,

Just go buy what you need; the delivery service is horrible

The order takes forever to arrive. I’ve tried the app a few times and it’s always very frustrating. Just go to the store and buy whatever. If you need to order something online I’d rather avoid Gourmet unless you have the luxury to wait for 4-5 hrs at least

Unbelievable number of updates

Every time I open the app, I have to update. It’s too frequent, inconvenient, and frustrating.
