I tried to find advantages to the app over the website. Maybe there are some but I couldn’t find any, so I will likely never use this as prefer website and have deleted the app.
The pre app release videos for this app looked really promising and suggested we were getting something similar to the apps that have been available in countries like Poland and Estonia for years. It showed a user flicking between their vehicle details, tax details etc. None of this is actually accessible in the app and when you click on something it essentially takes you to the government website for that service to browse through as normal. What a disappointment. Not an app or useful.
This is just the website in an app – but it forces you to log in so all your interactions can be traced back to you. What is done with this data? Who has access to it? Also there is no user management - I can’t switch easily between my different One Login accounts. This is basic stuff that should be in place in an MVP.
This app feels like reinventing the wheel. You need to register to access the same content that's freely available on a normal website. I absolutely see no point in doing this, especially when the information is freely available elsewhere.
Awful app, all it does is force you to make yet another Government account and then it’s just thousands of links to the normal website. Waste of phone space!
This is not even an MVP. It’s just an app with login and links to articles. Doesn’t have any value yet.
…I hope that changes for the better sooner rather than later, so that there is point to the app rather than providing links to the website. Apps really shouldn’t do that all the time.
Why oh why do you have to login again when the app updates? Get some developers who understand how to code to standards that help people navigate the app.
Logging in for the first time was a doddle as I’d previously set up a gov.id login. It supports FaceID so that also keeps it simple & secure. Topics for browsing seemed to be well structured although very often it ended up taking you to the relevant government web page but it did target the relevant page. I happen to be in a position to sell some sell some shares I’d acquired through a company share scheme and I was concerned about capital gains tax. By following’Money & Tax’ -> ‘Capital Gains Tax’ -> ‘Tax when you sell shares’ I quickly discovered using the app that such assets are exempt from CGT so got some valuable info on my first use. I should be able to easily find that again because there’s a ‘Pages you’ve visited’ topic - very useful for those ‘..where did I see that?..’ moments! Not bad for version 1.0.1
