Used the app with a paid subscription and it exceeds expectations for outlining bias. A good range of organisation for news as well. However, when browsing other major news conglomerates and their top headlines, GroundNews tends to exclude that. Also the app sometimes crashes unexpectedly. Other than that, great app. 👍🏾
Ground News really is a must have for improving media literacy. Ground News pools together the media reporting on the same story across a variety of sources so you can see for yourself where the gaps are in reporting and question the agenda of each report. This really is an eye opening app for anyone the ability to make up their own mind about what’s being broadcast to them in the 24 hour news cycle
Despite attempts to provide news stories and sources identified as left or right wing to overall selection appears to be left wing leaning. You simply don’t see a lot of balanced articles and reports. I will not renew my membership as I can’t find the value.
Oh god this is the app I have been dreaming of. I spend so much time trying to manually do what it does. However, I’m an Aussie and am mainly interested in South Pacific news. I’ll definitely upgrade my subscription once AU/NZ/Polynesia is added as a primary region 🤓 5 stars for concept and execution thus far though.
The pop up videos are extremely annoying as they keep appearing even when not clicking to select them
When was the last time that reading the news reliably made you feel better instead of angry? Ground News gives you the key facts first, then it invites you to see the breadth of perspectives and a summary of each. Then if you want more details, you can click through. This is just everything you’d want from reading the news. Local news: done Your personal interests: done Global perspectives: done What the other side is talking about: done If everyone used this, society would just be better. Reading GroundNews probably lowers your risk of heart attack (not medical advice).
This app is amazing. I consider myself a bit of a centrist and this app is amazing to see what both sides of the political spectrum are promoting or hiding.
Try to read an article to see if it’s something I want to subscribe to. Every few seconds the content shifts the place I’m reading off the screen and replaces it with an advert. App deleted.
This app does stand for a noble cause. Tried it out myself just to see if it was legit, and I suppose it is. I do however, think that a laying out of the frameworks of reasoning, biases, etc would be helpful too, like, as a hypothetical example, “Trump is great, and we’re taking this persons word for it for some reason!”, although I don’t know where that’d be listed.
This app is genuinely brilliant, I think we should all have a right to know the biases of the reporting we consume and this finally authentically provides that insight. Great app truly.
