What you really need to know is the company a word keeps - the phrases it lives in, the verbs it pairs with, the sentences where it feels at home. That's how vocabulary turns into fluency. Collocations: the words that come with the word Every term in Grump can carry its most natural collocates - the partners it's almost always used with. Instead of memorizing "decision" in isolation, you learn "make a decision," "reach a decision," "tough decision." This is the difference between understanding a word and actually using one. Examples that show the word in action Each term holds a list of example sentences so you can see how it lives in real context. Browse them, edit them, add your own. When you come back to a word a week later, the examples are what bring it back instantly. Everything a word needs, in one card A term in Grump is more than a translation. It holds the word itself, its translation, a clear definition, its collocates, and as many example sentences as you want.
