FAQ:
Q: Can I create or edit sheet music with this app?
A: Unlike Guitar Pro for Windows and Mac, this app does not let you change the notation in an existing Guitar Pro file, or create sheet music in standard notation. It is however possible to edit a single-track tablature with the NotePad tool and export your work into .gpx and .gp formats to finish your composition in Guitar Pro 6 or 7. Editing a drum track is not available with the NotePad tool.

Guitar Pro Reviews

Deceptive and misleading advertising

IgibotsLot on

Australia

Be aware - not only do you have to buy the app upfront, when you go to find some music to use with it you have to buy a subscription as well. A detail scarcely noted anywhere before you buy the App. To use your own library of tabs and general sheet music, the app is pretty redundant to its contemporary peers, and don’t even bother if you have a modern DAW. What small differential advantage the app may had had with its catalogue arrangements, like everything in and of music today ~ commoditised to a value of almost irrelevant.

Scam

The app is a scam. You buy the app then you have to buy each song. Don’t bother.

Double hit.

I paid for this app and tried to play some of the songs and now it wants me to pay more to access the songs. Sneaky. It won’t let me load guitar pro files sent by my teacher.

I want to like the app but it’s unusable

Michaelboydka on

Australia

The app crashes every single time I open it and I cannot actually use it , love the guitar pro 8 on my laptop and wanted to have it handy on my phone but no dice :(

Good but far from great

LucasGotIt on

Australia

I just wish it had a couple more features to writing my own tab. Options for custom notation for whammy effects or pick scraping, as well as charging time signature and tempo mid song would be amazing Very good for the basics

Upgrade lost my tabs!

Belorok on

Australia

Paid for the upgrade from GP7. The licence page says I have a GP8 licence but I have no access to any music. Worse still,I can’t access any of the tabs I’ve already paid for when I had GP7. This app has gone backwards.

Not able to import exported files

Gimme another option on

Australia

In order to have a file saved you have to export it, otherwise it stays within the app. But if you want to import it later, you can’t edit the saved file. Ridiculous! Make sure you finish the file, or forget about editing it if you have to reinstall GP on a new phone, as I found out!

Can’t upload tabs from my files - USELESS

Can’t upload guitar pro tabs from my files - USELESS

Need to be able to create in this app

blahh11 on

Australia

This app is OK to load up some music to read on the go, but it is a LONG way from being useful to actually write without having access to the desktop app. I’d really like to see the function to easily and quickly create solos while the ideas come to mind on the move. With this i spend more time swearing at the so called notepad feature as it is just too basic and so slow to compose. As such I am unable to rate the app over 2 stars. Desktop version gets 5 stars from me.

Better than nothing

Sigiligus on

Australia

It’s not unusable, but for importing large amounts of tabs, most end up automatically sorted into large groups. The only option for file sorting is to tediously edit every single file individually to fit everything into whatever album or artist you wish. Terrible for packs of exercises that haven’t been meticulously given an artist, album, composer, year, etc. Your only options with this app are importing and editing file information—you can do nothing else to streamline your experience.
