Great app if it was coded properly. Appears to have a memory leak. After about 5-10 mins use, the app lags and slows to a crawl. To the point that it drags the iPad to a crawl also. Restarting the iPad is the only way out. Hard to believe this app has been allowed to be released like this. Needs an overhaul.

Nothing but ads after updating. Some ads are so big that if you scroll through the pages like you normally would, you constantly hit that big @ss ad and are taken to its page. Really annoying and distracting. Update. After many app updates since I posted my review, the app has gotten worse. The ads are so intrusive that I am unable to use the app for more than 6 minutes as my whole phone slows right down. I have to fully exit the gumtree app before my phone becomes responsive again. I now have to use my laptop when I view all my saved searches. Stop hiring people who no nothing about optimising apps to work well enough to not slow down a whole device. Even better would be cutting 3 quarters of the useless ads that appear as I believe that is the cause of the slowdown. UPDATE. I write this months after my original review. The app has gotten so worse after many updates that the phone becomes unusable while the app is running. Even having the app run in the background slows down your phone making it unusable. Worst app. Funny enough I gave an old version running on an old iPhone 4s and it does not ask to update and it runs better than the latest gumtree app. This just proves to me that the only thing why everyone was forced to update was so gumtree could start casing in on ad revenue at the user’s expense. I use firefox and a laptop for my gumtree browsing ect and I now only use the app to reply to messages when I am away from my laptop. Update. As of June 2024 the app is worst than ever. After a few minutes the app freezes the whole phone. It’s like a virus that has infected your phone.

After a minute or two of searching or using this app its glitches, lags and freezes then my phone crashes. The app overheats my phone and other devices. Full of scammers and spammers too. I understand the app is free, yes you get what you pay for. Not sure if these developers know what theyre doing but nothing gets resolved on updates

I’ve been a user of gumtree many years, but lately the app has gotten so buggy, keeps getting frozen and very slow to respond it’s getting very frustrating and difficult to use. On top of this now if I was to sell a car, I have to pay money to advertise it? Paying to use a service that previously was free, with less traffic than Facebook marketplace and is difficult for people to use nearly makes it not worth the effort. Please improve this app, it really needs it. Cheers.

App keeps freezing even after update. And the amount of fake accounts and scammers is ridiculous.

Whenever I go to save a car search criteria, only half the things safe in the search. Very frustrating.

I have removed my app. Tried contacting customer service but no response. Far too many scammers using Gumtree. Using fake PayPal pages with links leading to stealing money. Disgusting!!!

The amount of scammers and bots on this app is ridiculous. Good luck selling anything.

Every time there are too many spams … Really need to fix these frank buyer spams / scams
