Climbs are accessed from a list, which can be searched and filtered. Selecting a climb reveals a base photo, the route's description, and a high-resolution zoom-able aerial photo, topo, or GPS-enabled map. The photos include belays, descent information, variations, and new link-ups. The app uses GPS to provide navigation and find the nearest climb. It also includes a Tick List & To-Do List with cloud backup. This app was created by local climbing fixtures Christian Fracchia and Byron Igoe, and further content was contributed by Andy Salo, Char Fetterolf, Lee Hansche, Marty Molitoris, Victor Medeiros, Dana Seaton, Chris Redmond, Charlie Schreiber, Tim McGivern, John Byrnes, Melissa McNell, Ben Blackmore, Rich Shoemaker, Austin Hoyt, Conor O'Hale, Justin Sanford, Kayte Knower, Tom Chervenak, Hillary Guzik, Paul Jung, Tim Keenan, Aleks Shineleva, Ted Coffelt, Thacher Park Climber Coalition, Ryan Shipp, Seth Derr, Larry Felton, Kyle Matulevich, Mike Rawdon, Chris Lopez, Charlie Schreiber, Rich Shoemaker, Dana Miller, Robin Close, Eric Marx, Sabrina Crispyn, Gary Thomann, Jim Lawyer, Jeremy Haas, EPAC, Andrew MacNamee, Kevin Johnson, Samuel Hayden, Justin Meserve, Tylor Streett, Peter Treitler, Justin Ridgely, and more. The Gunks app is an indispensable resource for both the seasoned veteran and the first time climber. ## Gunks Screenshots - [Screenshot 1](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple112/v4/45/21/b7/4521b7cf-2d7a-58a7-779a-73a6727759f2/mzl.jrvqvzvo.png/640x960.png) - [Screenshot 2](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple122/v4/fc/c8/59/fcc85931-45ec-f43a-5ece-0cc7106b465f/mzl.blxpvuvz.png/640x960.png) - [Screenshot 3](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple122/v4/d2/63/03/d26303e9-43ce-a952-3c56-e7cbe582565a/mzl.ewtobpuu.png/640x960.png) - [Screenshot 4](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Purple112/v4/15/30/29/1530299b-9448-2dde-d803-bc083283a231/mzl.apwstjph.png/640x960.png) ## Gunks Rating Breakdown in United States - 5 stars: 77 (95%) - 4 stars: 0 (0%) - 3 stars: 0 (0%) - 2 stars: 1 (1%) - 1 stars: 3 (4%) ## Gunks Reviews in United States ### ***** "Guidebooks are cool but have you ever used GunksApp?🤯" What page was that route on? What was it called? Swamy, Swanson, Simon ….SAMSONITE! I was way off. The app is a better reason to carry a phone to the crag than that’s obligatory topout selfie or ubiquitous belay stance picture of the leaders behind. Detailed topos overlaying real world photographs of the cliffs. Certain locations allow realtime navigation to the route. Logging, ticking, rating. It’s all there, and then some. There really isn’t a reason NOT to have the app for your chosen location. -- not doing this again., 2024-11-03 ### ***** "The best digital guidebooks!" The only thing better than their thorough digital guidebooks is their amazing customer service and their commitment to climbing! They use local authors, donate proceeds to climbing organizations, and will never be an ad-based or subscription model. Most of the digital world is pretty terrible but GunksApps is always good. Viva la GunksApps! -- glumdope, 2024-10-17 ### ***** "My favorite" Ad free, concise, thoughtful creators. Love the gunks community and this app that was developed to host other guides for areas as well. Creators always looking for feedback/ways to improve. -- Chinese_zeus, 2024-10-09 ### ***** "Great app. By climbers. For climbers." App covers everything. Good topo, good pics, good route descriptions. quick, effective tech support. Can’t say enough about this awesome app! -- JeffFromQns, 2024-10-08 ### ***** "Great app" Use the app ALL THE TIME! What more needs saying. -- JE Climbs, 2024-10-08 ### ***** "Best climbing app on east coast" First off, I needed technical support and got my problem of transferring my routes to a new email figured out in an hour. Second tho, this app allows me to explore my area and I have gotten my moneys worth many times over with how many times it’s gotten me to go outside climbing with me and my friends. Thanks for all y’all do -- obsessedwithmovies, 2024-03-18 ### ***** "The best climbing guide book platform" I wish every climbing area was on gunks app. Easy to use. Simply designed. My favorite climbing app from my favorite climbing area. Get it!! -- pelcinary, 2023-03-28 ### ***** "The best I’ve found" This app is an excellent source for finding climbs, areas, grades, etc. Since it’s on your phone, it’s super handy. -- Chahshddj, 2023-03-23 ### ***** "Digital is the Future" The future of guidebooks is this right here. The convience of having a guidebook for a vast amount of areas in the palm of my hand has brought much ease when on multipitch routes or when trying to navigate a new boulder field. The platform offers a wide variety of guide to local areas while also providing affordable guides to destinations in surrounding areas. I enjoy the frequent updates as well! Can't wait to see what areas are next to be added!! -- Knotty_or_Gneiss_Climber, 2023-03-23 ### ***** "Excellent app from the folks who wrote the guide book" This app is a game changer for Gunks accessibility. It has all the beta you need to navigate the area and pick climbs for your level of skill. The app is updated regularly with new areas being added all the time it seems. I rely heavily on this app for so many things. Be it my regular Gunks trips, my Powerlinez bouldering sessions, or ventures farther afield (looking at you, Hawaii boulders). This app sets a high standard for what a guidebook app should be. -- maximelrod, 2023-03-20 [View all Gunks reviews and detailed analytics on AppTail](https://app.apptail.io/signup?utm_campaign=ai-crawl&utm_content=reviews) ## Gunks Discovered Keywords -
