How much does GuruShots cost?
GuruShots has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is $6.19.
This app is just a cash grab. I get that you need to make money but why is everything a pay to win now. Blurry pixelated photos win challenges, unrelated photos to the topic win challenges, if you don’t devote hours a day to this app then you fall in the rankings fast. I downloaded the app because the advertising I saw made it seem like it was more of a “photography scavenger hunt” type app that will help you in learning new techniques in composition, lighting, subject, ect. Turns out it’s just a bunch of contests with no structure.
Still awful
Tried to report a photo as adult contact because someone with the maturity of a house fly thought it would be funny to write clock (minus the L) in the air with a light. Photo never listed as adult. You are never competed against those you can beat. I joined this years ago and got up to Master. I quit because of all the off topic photos and copyright infringement. I rejoined hoping it had improved. It hadn’t. Only gurus win. I am using the same photos I won with before and even better ones and I still don’t get squat. I’ve seen some amazing photos on there but they don’t win because they aren’t gurus. I’m convinced that the gurus are a bunch of people who have better than average photography skills but can’t make it in the real world doing photography. There are a lot of insanely awful photos on this app. I’m leaving for good now. I’m better than this app.
Love the Idea, But the Voting Could Be Better
8-10
I'm really into the whole concept of GuruShots, where photographers get to challenge each other and have their work voted on. However, I think there's room for improvement in how the voting is handled. Right now, it feels a bit too quick and shallow—like they're just trying to get you to vote without giving it much thought.
It would be great if they could make it more about comparing photos directly against each other. Imagine starting with, say, 5000 photos and narrowing it down to the best one through a series of rounds where voters really get to focus and compare. This would help ensure the voting is about quality, not just first impressions.
So yeah, while I love what GuruShots is trying to do, I think a tweak in the voting process could really make it a lot better and fairer for everyone involved.

I have never truly disliked an app more than this
I’ve used a lot of apps and I’ve had a lot of games. This one is awful. The layout is confusing and badly designed, the competitions aren’t fun nor do they actually provide you with anything useful. And the pay to win is even worse. I haven’t ever given a 1 star review and I like to be open minded to new apps but this on takes the cake as the worst app I’ve ever been unfortunate enough to download. 0/10 app
Fake
The majority of people uploading to this are taking from AI generated shots and winning. Not worth your time… and it’s obvious what they are uploading.
They don’t care for the customers
The support staff are not very supportive.
They very seldom respond to any messages that you send them with concerns.
When they do it’s a cut and paste answer. I have written many times about cheating and instead of answering my concerns they just ignore me. They allow cheating and will not fix this issue or communicate about it.
Surprised you have this many downloads
This was a great app at first. But then you started adding keys to every single decent entry. On top of that you charge for application to enter photos into contest across the world that we have no idea whether or not you’re just ripping us off or actually submitting the photos. I enjoy photography, but I don’t pay to submit my photos. My photos our actual revenue. The moment I start going backwards is the moment I delete this app, and that is now.
Turbos are hurting this app
Overall it’s a fun app and a great way to compare your photos to other amateurs and professionals alike. My biggest issue is that the results of challenges are not a reflection of the quality of the images. I know it’s a game and not necessarily the best photo wins every time. But the recent introduction of the turbo has made that problem way worse. It took the app from an even playing field for all pictures inside a challenge and now your success in a challenge is based on how well you do in a 50/50 quiz on how popular other photos are. If the turbos were either done away with completely or made easier to achieve I would rate it higher, but with the way it is it just takes away any interest in challenges you don’t get the turbo in.
What’s the point?
It’s not a fair platform. You have to purchase boosts in order to have a chance at becoming a “guru”. And then what? I’ve been joining challenges literally for over 4 years without purchasing any of their in app packages and I’ve seen horrible photos that don’t even fit the challenges that become gurus or whatever. Yet the good photos (without the purchases) don’t stand a chance. In my opinion, this is stupid
Meh
Aside being just another creative way to separate the shooter from their art/work by giving it away…the shooter is in fact PAYING for them to take it away. LOL…genius, honestly!
Conceptually, I guess it’s nifty…just not a fan. **deleted**
