GVB reis app Reviews

Great app

Great app, helped us navigate our way around Amsterdam. We purchased a week GVB travel pass and it was very easy to navigate. It even sends you to Google maps when you need to walk between different stations

very helpful

i was very anxious to be coming to amsterdam with the public transport however this app was really helpful in allowing me to find where to go without trouble. when you want to go somewhere it tells you how far to walk to a station and how long it will take on the transport and then how far to walk to your destination. very easy to use.

Tracking and scanning

issecure on

App was fairly easy to obtain the ticket - but scanning through the barriers was a hit and miss - sometimes I was required to go to the barrier next door as the scanner would simply not pick up the QR code Biggest issue is that one is Required to create an account, but one cannot retrieve an invoice?

It’s ok.

I used this app for 4 days in Amsterdam, on trams and Metro. I found the app to be ok if you’re just wanting a digital solution to carrying a card around with you. BUT The readers on the tram don’t always pick up the QR code on your phone. This makes it a pain to click in or out. It’s ok on the tram, usually no one really is that bothered. It might cause issues on Metro especially late at night. There are too many steps to get to your ticket. You really should be able to put it in your Apple wallet for ease of access. But at the very least it needs to be on the landing page of the app. Otherwise, it’s ok. But needs a lot of work to make it properly user-friendly. I will use again next time I’m in Amsterdam.

Poor

Do not bother using this app! On arrival to Amsterdam I purchased a 96 hour tram pass, it worked fine for the first day then completely disappeared from the app! So I paid for a 96 hour ticket that worked for 24 hours, I’ve been completely ripped off….buy a physical ticket on the tram play it safe. Waste of time

Basically useless

Sells you a ticket then routes you across networks the ticket is not valid for. Confusing and frustrating and then the help points at the stations you can’t get out of smugly tell you that you’ve got the wrong ticket and you have to go on-line and buy another ticket. Fortunately found a station attendant who took pity on us and let us out. Seen others with same issue and developers response but just not helpful or acceptable. Barcode rarely works and you are left standing like an idiot trying to get through unattended gates. Or the tram drivers having you try every reader on the tram. Routing is ridiculous and seemed to ignore the tram stop outside the hotel in favour of walking. The barcode only surfaces if you click shop and then my tickets. Developers should be ashamed this is a lousy badly thought through cut and paste job.

bought ticket for 26 euros yesterday and today its missing

Simple idea could make this very usable

As a complete novice, I was able to buy a multi-day pass. The navigation was good enough, overall. It could benefit from auto-updating the current location as you’re moving around - which seems hit and miss at best. Switching between the route planner and the e-tickets could (should) be a single tap action in my humble opinion. Finally - in my personal experience with an iPhone 13 Pro Max, I’ve found that I have to manually set the screen to full brightness in order for the on-tram readers and the station turnstiles to be fairly reliable at reading the QR codes. I’m not sure if the APIs are available from Apple, but if they are, perhaps auto-setting the screen to full brightness when showing an e-ticket and reverting to standard brightness when switching to another part of the app (or out of the app) would be hugely helpful. As it currently stands, either I am wasting battery life by forgetting to revert the brightness (not very eco-friendly) or delaying other passengers while I fiddle with the settings (not very user friendly). I hope the feedback is received in the spirit it is intended.

Barely works

QR code virtually never works. If you’ve been to Amsterdam, you know getting on a any tram is a rush. It’s so embarrassing when you have to hold the line up and position your phone 5 or 6 times for it to finally scan. Most of the time, whoever was at the conductor seat inside the tram would just tell me to come in without scanning because they know how bad it is. Seriously don’t use this app, just buy a card when you get into the city.

Doesn’t work

They take your money but the QR code never works when checking in or out on trams
